Dolph Ziggler and A.J. Lee: Where Is Their Relationship Going?

When A.J. Lee turned on John Cena and began her relationship with Dolph Ziggler, it was her seventh romance in WWE.

Is there any reason to believe that eventually A.J. won’t turn on Dolph Ziggler? Where is this relationship going?

We all know different words to describe A.J. Lee. But instead of a list of creative, inappropriate adjectives and nouns, let’s focus on how she has become Dolph’s new Vickie Guerrero.

Dolph Ziggler began his WWE career quite average on the mic. He didn’t seem that comfortable or confident. Things have since changed. His promos have improved and that confidence level is through the roof now.

Unfortunately, WWE still wanted to keep someone with Ziggler to help be his voice. First it was heat magnet Vickie Guerrero, but now it is A.J. Lee. That seemed to be part of the reason for this relationship.

As the relationship continues, it can go in two different directions.

Best case scenario is Dolph Ziggler and A.J. become the modern day versions of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Dolph has a ways to go before becoming the next Triple H. It may never happen. However, it is a great goal for Ziggler to strive for. As for Ms. Lee, in the ring she is perfectly capable of becoming the next Stephanie McMahon. Especially since Stephanie wasn’t much of a wrestler. However, Stephanie had a lot more control as an authority figure both on and off screen. That is where A.J. may have some difficulty.

Like I said, that is the best case scenario.

The more likely scenario is that the relationship continues until one—either Dolph or A.J.—turns babyface.

A.J. would be the more obvious choice, as she is very popular and has spent time as a babyface. The scenario would come from her upcoming inevitable feud with Kaitlyn over the divas championship. When the divas face off at WrestleMania and after A.J. wins, they celebrate until Kaitlyn attacks A.J.—causing a double turn.

If WWE decides to be very creative, and that is a big if, they could turn Dolph Ziggler into their next top babyface. We have already seen a number of turns recently by the Miz and Alberto Del Rio, so maybe Dolph Ziggler is next. Although Del Rio is World Heavyweight Champion right now, if a heel defeats him, Ziggler could cash in and become the champion while also turning face.

One may have thought that Del Rio winning the title meant that Ziggler was going to cash in now that the title is on a babyface, but Ziggler cashing in on a heel would throw a monkey’s elbow into everyone’s thinking.

Regardless of how it happens, the Ziggler-A.J. relationship is going to end. WWE love angles always end, and usually do so abruptly. The best thing WWE can do with this situation is make sure that when the relationship ends, it makes an impact. A Ziggler cash in or an A.J. divas championship and face turn will certainly work.
