New York Rangers Rag Doll: Stretch Run Souvenir After Avery Gets Ragdolled

Last year, the New York Rangers gave us the souvenir tee-shirt that said Avery Rules, celebrating The Avery Rule for goaltender interference or unsportsmanlike conduct. This year, it could be the Rangers Rag Doll with No. 16 and a target on its back and the name "Gandhi" or "Avery."

The deluxe model could have a button to push so you could hear the lyrics to the song Ashlee Simpson and others made famous, called Ragdol, by Jerome Harmon and King Logan, which goes, in part:

"Why you gotta throw me around like a ragdoll?
You can toss me out, you can toss me out
You just wanna use me up 'til I'm all gone

Sean Avery was assessed a roughing penalty for serving as a rag doll to New Jersey Devils forward David Clarkson on Monday night.

Many fans were mystified since he showed no interest in tangling with Clarkson.

During Monday's 3-0 loss to the Rangers, the Devils showed more interest in going after Avery than winning.

In the third period, Clarkson tried to get Avery to fight. When Avery declined, Clarkson grabbed him and swung him around like a rag doll.

Clarkson received a double-minor penalty for roughing plus a 10-minute misconduct, which kept him out of the rest of the game. Avery was given a minor penalty for roughing and protested vigorously.

There are many rag dolls on the  market, from Betsy the Fair Trade Handmade rag doll to the white rag doll boy in blue dungarees.

I can just see the Avery rag dolls reigning down on the Rangers ice while Rangers fans sing the song, or their version of it.

Detroit Red Wings fans are famous for throwing the occasional octopus on the ice.

The Rangers fans could throw them on the ice whenver there's a fight starting but Avery or another one of the Rangers refuses to drop the gloves and helmet and the other guy gets the penalty.
