2013 NFL Mock Draft: Updated Complete 1st Round Mock Draft

Matt SchreiberJun 1, 2018

The 2013 NFL draft is inching closer by the day. Though the draft is a little bit over three months away, it is never too soon to start making bold predictions as to where the next wave of NFL stars may end up in April.

I originally had the Kansas City Chiefs taking Luke Joeckel with the No. 1 pick in the draft in my first mock draft. I decided after watching a tremendous amount of Geno Smith film, that he is the best fit for their organization.

Factor in the fact that the Chiefs just signed one of the greatest head coaches to ever coach quarterbacks in Andy Reid, and Smith is perfect for the organization.

Personally, I think Luke Joeckel is the best overall player on the board, but don't see him going until the fourth pick where the Philadelphia Eagles would be foolish not to take him.

Manti Te'o is a pro-ready linebacker who will make an immediate impact wherever he lands. I have him going early to Detroit at No. 5.

Former Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone is now the new head coach for the Buffalo Bills. As Ryan Fitzpatrick is completely unproven, they need to draft a quarterback. Marrone says he "loves" Ryan Nassib, the quarterback he coached at Syracuse who is a top-rated quarterback available for this draft.

After watching plenty of Nassib's tape, I love the guy as well. I have a feeling Marrone will take Nassib with the eighth pick in the draft.

Teams like the San Diego Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in desperate need of cornerbacks, so I believe they'll get Dee Milliner and Johnthan Banks respectively.

The Miami Dolphins will likely take the first receiver off the board come draft day. I see them taking Keenan Allen out of California.

The next two receivers to be taken off the board will most likely be the duo from the University of Tennessee. Justin Hunter will go at No. 21 to the Cincinnatti Bengals, while Cordarrelle Patterson will follow at No. 22 to the St. Louis Rams, who acquired the pick from Washington in the RGIII trade.

With Tony Gonzalez set to retire after the current NFL season, the Falcons will likely select a tight end with their first-round pick. They'd be smart to take Taylor Eifert out of Notre Dame.

It should be a defensive heavy first round in the 2013 NFL draft. If it goes the way that I think, 18 defensive players will be taken off the board.

Alabama should have four guys taken, while Georgia should have three guys taken off the board once the first round is complete. They will headline universities with the most players drafted in the first round.

Below is my updated 2013 NFL mock draft. I will post another one following the NFL playoffs and the combine. Feel free to give me all of your feedback. I appreciate and respect what you may have to say.
