Ishikawa ready for a Giant step forward
As one of the worst offenses in major league baseball, the San Fransisco Giants could use all the productive bats they can get. As a team in 2008 the Giants hit 94 home runs and had one of the worst slugging percentages in the league at .382. In the case of guys like Ishikawa, spring training stats do not normally paint an accurate picture of what a player would do in a full major league baseball season. However the new found power of their starting first baseman gives many to hope for a boost of the middle of a lineup that desperately needs it.
The Baseball Prospectus PECOTA algorithm used for projection suggests that a .480 slugging percentage is certainly attainable, and the Giants will certainly need production.
