NFL Picks Week 16: Projecting Biggest Blowouts of the Week

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

This is the time of the NFL season when the contenders separate themselves from the pack.

When a legitimate playoff contender faces off with a bottom-feeder, it usually leads to a blowout of epic proportions. It also leads to the losing team questioning itself and wondering when the pain will ever end.

Here's a look at what I see being the biggest blowouts of Week 16 in the NFL.

Tennessee Titans (5-9) at Green Bay Packers (10-4)

Not only do the Packers have Clay Matthews back (who made quite the impact against the Chicago Bears last week), the Titans have had trouble against the pass this season (ranked 20th in yards per attempt allowed) and the Packers are much more effective through the air with Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers are also 6-1 at home this season, with their only loss coming to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1.

Winners of three straight, don't expect Rodgers and the Packers to have an off day against Tennessee in Week 16.

New England Patriots (10-4) at Jacksonville Jaguars (2-12)

The Jaguars have allowed 27.4 points per game, 29th in the NFL. The Patriots have averaged 36.1 points per game, first in the NFL.

Any questions?

The Jaguars just allowed Miami Dolphins rookie Ryan Tannehill to average 7.9 yards per pass attempt while tossing two touchdowns, and gave up 104 rushing yards to Reggie Bush.

It doesn't look good for Jacksonville this week.

Did I mention that the Patriots scored 34 points against the San Francisco 49ers last week?

Cleveland Browns (5-9) at Denver Broncos (11-3)

The Browns (mainly cornerback Sheldon Brown) got burned by Kirk Cousins last week, allowing the rookie to average 8.9 yards per pass attempt and toss two touchdowns in the 38-21 loss to the Washington Redskins.

How do you think they are going to fare against Peyton Manning?

On top of that, Knowshon Moreno has exploded in the past two weeks as the starter, giving Denver more balance on offense.

Cleveland has also averaged 20 points per game this season, 24th in the NFL.
