Mo Said Yankees Have No Excuses
Mariano Rivera came into the league in 1995 and won four World Series in his first six seasons, but ever since the Yankees have won no championships with plenty of excuses.
Now Rivera said the Yankees have no more excuses. They have offense, they have pitching, now they just need to go out and win again.
“We can’t complain - there’s no excuses,” Rivera said. “The Yankees did tremendous. They went and got the best two starters on the market. We have those two, Chien-Ming Wang, Andy [Pettitte] and Joba [Chamberlain].”

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
“We always say, we don’t have starters,” Rivera said. “We don’t have this. We don’t have that. Last year we didn’t have starters - we came up with two rookies (Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy). Unfortunately it didn’t work. But we didn’t have an entire rotation. Now, we do.”
Rivera is right, the Yankees did a tremendous job adding pieces to make sure they’ll compete for a playoff spot. Is it enough to take home a World Series? Well it should be, but the Yankees could have a big issue with injuries again this season.
Hideki Matsui and Jorge Posada are almost a sure bet to miss games. Alex Rodriguez will miss a month at the very least, and there are huge question marks surrounding AJ Burnett. That’s four players who almost definitely will miss time and there will be more as wear and tear from a 162 game season takes place.
Basically what I’m saying is that there are no excuses now. The Yankees and their fans may change their tune by the summer.
