Bleacher Report's Wrestling Section, and How to Make Sense of Us All

Joe Burgett Mar 21, 2009

For about six months now, I have been a part of the Bleacher Report wrestling section. It has been fun to share my thought on wrestling and see what others thought on the subject too.

When I arrived around August 2008, we had around 100 people in the section. I knew that I wanted to bring others in when I saw this, so I started doing news articles.

I brought news here from other places, added my personal thoughts on it and that made an article that boosted up reads and comments. Since google and other sites get information from here, others who surfed the Internet for news would see my articles.

The other writers had the same idea too, so they wrote articles as well. And soon, we attained more people here. Once with barely 100 members, there's now over 1,000, so I think we did our job.

Now B/R is the place to go for wrestling news and opinions on it. Many peoplehave realized this and come here, and I personally see new people everyday on here. Whether they tell you how much of an idiot you are or how cool the article was, they are still here.

See, we are a cast of characters here on B/R. I may get a lot of attention around here, but many others are doing great.

Of course we have the leader, Ron Johnson, who keeps us out of trouble with other sections and realizes that he is the judge around here. He comments on articles from time to time while giving us the recap of WWE shows like RAW and SmackDown.

The man not only supports us here, but lets us do whatever. He know the creativity here is huge, so why ruin it right? He is a good community leader and probably the reason I have not gotten kicked off B/R by now.

We also have Pick of the Day winners like Shane Howard, AkD, M, Chris Browne, Jason Le Blanc, and Ray Bogusz. Let's talk about these six a bit.

All I have had a problem with at some point, as they have with me. But they all realize what the point is here, good articles.

Shane Howard, also known as Sugar Shane Howard. Why? Got me, maybe a boxing reference, nevertheless, the dude can write. He kind of knows potential in writers and is a good help here to them.

He is ranked No. 2 in the wrestling section while many believe he is the best writer. His opinion is wanted for some reason by everyone here. And for good reason, he is very opinionated and will tell you when you are wrong or write crap, believe me.

Getting his vote for a POTD is worth a POTD, even if you don't get it. I respect the guy, and think he is one of the top writers in all of B/R.

AkD, well he has no nickname. Why? Well AkD is the nickname. I can't spell his real name (shocker) so I will not tell it to you.

He won a POTD a little while back, and probably writes more articles in a day than all of B/R. I remember those days. Anyway, there Ain't No Stoppin AkD in the future.

He will let you know when you are flat out wrong, even if he is. The dude can argue with a brick wall about it being red. And it hurts me to say, but he makes me believe after a while.

Now onto M, what does "M"  stand for? I don't think anyone knows. But that profile pick is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. Known as the master of the satire, he will make you laugh, while also humiliating you.

He made his name here when he called me and others out, and like others, will tell you his opinion. Yet he did not win his POTD on a humor article, but actually a serious one. Go figure.

Now onto the resident rapper/hip-hop guy Chris Brown, oh crap wrong guy we have Chris Browne. He apparently is not the guy who hit Rhianna. Oh well, at least he can write.

He hates the Internet community, at least the ones who give things away on wrestling shows. He has no nickname, but what is so funny is that he actually does rap. I know, I was shocked too.

He plans on letting you know the real deal when he writes, and I personally agree with many of the things he writes about.

On to Jason Le Blanc, also known as JLB. Many believe he is the master of written TV, as his RNN episodes(articles) have won two POTDs. He calls out many of us here, and other things in the section.

He also has started a Revolution, something of which many are involved in. What that Revolution is, well, you have to read his articles to know about.

He really gets into every detail in his writing and is one of everyone's favorite writers in the section.

Now to Ray Bogusz, the editor among us. Also the guy who knows he can write out better storylines than the WWE. As he has done in the past

Probably best known for being a critic here, he will tell you what you messed up on writing wise. He doesn't care if you like it or not. Which gets under some skin, but he does it to make the section better.

Although a bit controversial at times, he can back up what he says with what he writes. It is nice to see in my eyes. Although I do not agree with him sometimes, he does know what he is talking about most of the time.

Now onto notables people need to get to know.

Mina, also known as the resident stat girl, can tell you anything, and I mean anything, from wrestling's past. Just try her and you will see.

She is also known here as the voice of reason, and her opinions on things are valid. When reading her articles, you really get a sense of what she is talking about.

Josh Swell also known as "The Model" because, well, look at his profile picture. He is the Future of the wrestling section, at least that is what he will tell you.

One man I have gotten to know well, Swell can write about anything in wrestling. He is trying to take my tag as the breaking news guy here too.

But he also breaks things down very well in the world of wrestling with his opinion articles.

On to Ross, he has been here longer than me and may be the only normal person in the section. He hates school, or maybe just the work. Who knows right?

He writes rarely now, but has written a good bit in the past. He is brutally honest, and will tell you what he thinks about you, your mother, or whomever.

He is very technically sound in his writing and can get you to agree with him just about every time.

Now onto myself, Joe Burgett. Also known as Numero Uno, given to me by AkD. I have written way too much in the section's eyes.

I made headlines here when I started my own faction or entourage. I wanted the new writers to get noticed and it worked.

I am the butt of many jokes, but that could be because many people think I am to outspoken. Now many people have many reasons for not liking me, but it could be because I just do some crazy things.

I like to keep it fresh everyday. Could be because I like to entertain, who knows? I have unbelievable confidence given to me by my father, who told me always to believe in myself in all I do.

People may hate that, and believe it is unwarranted, but I have done well here. So in the end, that confidence helped.

I love B/R, but sometimes the wrestling section gets a bad rap. It may be because not many of you understand us, or even know what we are talking about half the time.

But get to know us, and you will learn why people keep coming back everyday.
