Fantasy Football's Top Scorers from NFL Week 12
Well, the 12th week of the 2012 fantasy campaign is just about in the books, and a week that started with a flurry of high scores cooled off considerably headed into Sunday night's big NFC showdown between the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants.
With that said, many of this week's top performances occurred on Turkey Day, so let's break out the leftovers, loosen up our belts and dig into the top fantasy scorers for Week 12.
Note: These scores were tabulated using a PPR scoring system that awards one point for 10 rushing or receiving yards or for 25 passing yards and each reception. It awards six points for all touchdowns and subtracts two points for turnovers.
QB: Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (41 Pts.)
1 of 4Well it took long enough!
After lighting the NFL on fire in his rookie season Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was a top-five fantasy pick at his position in many drafts this summer, only to disappoint in a big way to this point in the season.
There wasn't any disappointing going on on Monday night, however, as Newton torched the Philadelphia Eagles for over 300 passing yards, over 50 rushing yards, and four total touchdowns.
RB: Bryce Brown, Philadelphia Eagles (30 Points)
2 of 4There hasn't been a whole lot go well for the Philadelphia Eagles this season, and although the team lost their seventh straight game on Monday night there was at least something of a silver lining.
Rookie running back Bryce Brown had a phenomenal game in his first start subbing for the injured LeSean McCoy, gashing the Panthers for a franchise rookie record 178 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.
WR: Dez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys (32 Points)
3 of 4As I mentioned in the title slide, if there was a trend this week in fantasy football, it was big performances in the trio of games on Thanksgiving, and those games brought with them a number of huge outings from the wide receiver position.
With that said it was Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys that fantasy owners were most thankful for on Thursday, as the third-year pro reeled in eight passes for 145 yards and a pair of scores in the Dallas loss.
TE: Dustin Keller, New York Jets (17 Points)
4 of 4"Top scorer" is a relative term where the tight end position is concerned this week, as Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots is hurt and other stars such as Jimmy Graham of the New Orleans Saints had quiet games.
Sure enough though, it was a player on Thanksgiving that posted the week's high score at the position, as Dustin Keller of the New York Jets hauled in five catches for 64 yards and a touchdown to provide a rare bright spot on an otherwise miserable night in the Big Apple.
