Fantasy Football Week 12 Rankings: Julio Jones and WRs Set for Huge Games
Need a huge afternoon from your best wide receiver in fantasy?
No need to worry; Week 12 is here.
Some of the game's most prolific wideouts, guys who've been steady all season, find themselves in juicy matchups during the holiday weekend.
Let's rank the top fantasy pass-catchers.
No. 6: Stevie Johnson at Indianpolis Colts
1 of 6Stevie Johnson isn't typically near the top of the fantasy wide receiver ranks, but his recent consistent production and matchup against a shoddy Indianapolis Colts secondary makes him a fine play in Week 12.
Johnson accumulated six catches on targets in each of the last two games for a total of 165 yards.
Though he's 32nd in total receiving yards this season, he is tied with Vincent Jackson with 88 targets, four less than Andre Johnson and two more than Marques Colston and Dez Bryant.
Interesting, huh?
Colts cornerback Vontae Davis has "a chance to play," according to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, but the secondary as a whole is filled with holes.
Chan Gailey should feature running back C.J. Spiller more, but he won't stray from the passing game the team's most talented wideout, Stevie Johnson.
Expect a big day from the eccentric receiver inside Lucas Oil Stadium.
No. 5: Calvin Johnson vs. Houston Texans
2 of 6Johnson is essentially matchup-proof.
During Week 11's game against the Green Bay Packers, when Matthew Stafford finished the game with a 54 QB rating, Megatron had five receptions and 143 yards with one touchdown on 11 targets.
The Texans have had one of the best defenses in the league this season, but the Jacksonville Jaguars racked up 458 total yards and Chan Henne threw for 354 yards with four touchdowns an no interceptions.
Rookie wideout Justin Blackmon, who had 250 total receiving yards heading into his matchup with the Texans, totaled 236 yards on 13 targets.
Johnson, true to form, will have a monster game at home.
No. 4: Julio Jones at Tampa Bay Buccaners
3 of 6The Atlanta Falcons avoided what would have been an utterly embarrassing defeat at home at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals despite a career-high five interceptions from quarterback Matt Ryan.
Jones was held to three catches for a mere 33 yards, therefore continuing one of the oddest trends in the NFL this season—the stud wideout stars on the road and flounders at home.
In five games inside the Georgia Dome this year, Jones has 17 catches for 269 yards and no touchdowns. On the road in as many games, he has 30 receptions for 467 yards with five scores.
For as crazy as it seems to follow that trend, I'm doing it.
Jones faces the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay, and though Greg Schiano's bunch is as hot as any club in football, no team allows more passing yards per game (313).
No. 3: Dez Bryant vs Washington Redskins
4 of 6Bryant has a touchdown in three straight games and was a terror against the Cleveland Browns secondary in Week 11.
He had 12 catches for a career-high 145 yards with a touchdown on 15 targets.
The Washington Redskins come to town on Thanksgiving, and will do so with secondary that allows nearly 290 aerial yards per game.
Now that he's fully healthy and has established a good rapport with Tony Romo, Bryant is a stellar fantasy play this week and will score big in a game that easily turn into a shootout.
No. 2: Demaryius Thomas at Kansas City Chiefs
5 of 6We knew Demaryius Thomas was a beast physically entering the 2012 season, and now, Peyton Manning has morphed potential into production for the 6'3'', 230-pound Georgia Tech alum.
He's on pace for a prolific 91-catch, 1,493-yard, eight-touchdown season.
Though he only caught three passes for 42 yards in a win over the San Diego Chargers in Week 11, one of those grabs was a highlight-reel touchdown in which Thomas dragged his feet in bounds near the boundary.
He has received at least eight targets in the last four games and finds himself in a marvelous matchup in Week 12 against the abysmal Kansas City Chiefs.
No club has allowed a higher QB rating, so Manning's offense should be firing on all cylinders.
No. 1: A.J. Green vs. Oakland Raiders
6 of 6A.J. Green may be the most well-rounded, physically-gifted wideout in the NFL not named Calvin Johnson.
His one-handed touchdown grab against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11 was absolutely insane, but he didn't stop there.
He finished the game with six receptions for 91 yards on 12 targets.
The touchdown marked the ninth straight game in which he's scored a touchdown, and don't expect that to stop when the Bengals host the Oakland Raiders in Week 12.
Dennis Allen's club has allowed 42, 55 and 38 points in their last three games, and Josh Freeman's 108.6 QB rating was the lowest QB rating surrendered during that stretch.
Andy Dalton and Green should connect on an abundance of big plays, making the Georgia alum the top-ranked fantasy receiver of Week 12.
