When Will John Cena Turn Heel? It Is So Obvious, Wrestling Fans!
For what seems to be forever, the same question comes up again and again and again. When will John Cena turn heel?
It was kind of tough to say for a long time when he finally would make his heel turn. But now I may have a clear answer of the time period it will happen.
Right now, John Cena is the No. 1 guy in the company, which means he has to be a babyface character. The WWE wants to get the family demographic, so Cena has to be a face to keep it.

Of course, other demographics are taken care of, too, such as the 18-30 range. Right now, they are keeping all parties happy with the Triple H/Randy Orton feud.
Also the 18-30 demographic has been on Randy Orton and Edge's shoulders too. Even Chris Jericho has been throwing his hat in the right for that demographic too. Not only that, but with is new Jericho vs The Legends feud, he has gotten the older fans to watch too.
Which helps the company a good bit. So the family version, such as the kid version is taken care of John Cena right now. You can't switch him now because of that. You have to have a guy who will be a Superstar for the kids.
The question is, who will take John Cena's spot as a superstar of the company for the kids? Who could they use?
Cena is the only one, right now at least. So that is the main reason he has not changed his face status in some time now.
The WWE feels that he has the be the guy to carry the torch for now as the main guy in the company. And switching him would bring down merchandise and also they would see an uproar by the kids.
Also, he is a great ambassador for the WWE; he has been in movies and TV shows. Not to mention all of the public appearances he has made. So why change him now?
Also the only people who really are mad that he is not as edgy as he once was, are the 18-30 demographic. They are the ones who saw him from day one and loved his rapper gimmick.
So the question is, when will he turn heel?
The answer is simple; it will be in 2010 or '11. Now that may be a long way off, but it makes sense. See, one man can not be the No. 1 guy in the company his entire career.
Others will see the spotlight and be loved by fans. Which makes them the No. 1 guy and unseat the other.
This has happened a thousand times in professional wrestling. In the '90s we saw the rise of Shawn Michaels. He and Razor Ramon had a great ladder match, which put both on the map.
HBK ended up getting the upper hand in that feud. And who can forget the Montreal Screw Job?
Once that happened, HBK became the No. 1 guy in the company. Then he was in a little faction known as D-Generation X. This was significant for him. Because it centered itself around the audience they were trying to attain.
Which meant he got bigger because of it. HBK was the leader, and that made him look even better.
But then he got injured, and missed a good bit of time. So then another had to rise up, that became Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
HHH was because of his ties to DX, and Stone Cold because of his image as a Texas Rattlesnake and a man who kicked but in the ring.
Soon those two took over the company. Then we saw the rise of The Great One The Rock. Who probably is the most famous man in WWE history, and was the No. 1 guy for years.
Yet it was a battle back and forth between both he and Stone Cold. Of course, Chris Jericho threw his hat in the ring and was a top star. Especially since his image was so good.
We all remember the paranoia of Y2K when the year 2000 came around. Jericho had a clock to count down the new millennium and went by the name Y2J. So that added popularity.
Of course, we saw guys like Kane, Kurt Angle, and The Undertaker during this time, too. But it was between two men at the time in Rock and Stone Cold. Soon both kind of drifted away.
Therefore the WWE gracefully added new guys to rise up and become number 1 guys.
I feel that is what will happen with John Cena. Soon there will be a feud between he and a top guy in the company. It can't be Randy Orton though.
It has to be a man who can be a heel, and then be able to work a face gimmick too.
See Rock and Stone Cold were both heels and faces in their career. Therefore Cena would have to turn heel. But he couldn't be that number 1 guy in the company.
You would have to have a man who could hold a feud with Cena, but then Cena would have to wrong him in some way. That would make him look bad and then the other guy would get face hype.
That would in turn make Cena have to turn heel. So by 2010 or 2011 we could see that guy to take Cena's spot at the top and/or challenge it. And fans, I am sure, would be behind that wrestler.
That is the best and most clear answer.
