NFL Picks Week 8: Predicting Stone Cold Locks Against the Spread
Week 8 of the NFL season looks to be another profitable one for bettors.
There are a number of intriguing games on the slate, and road underdogs are looking like an overall solid play once again—a familiar story for most of the season.
Let’s take a look at a few games on the slate and highlight the teams that should definitely cover this week.

DETROIT LIONS (-2) over Seattle Seahawks
While the Lions aren’t that great this year, they should have no problem beating a Seahawks team that is just terrible on the road.
Case in point, quarterback Russell Wilson has six touchdowns and no interceptions at CenturyLink Field—where this franchise is undefeated in 2012—compared to just two TDs and seven INTs on the road, where Seattle is just 1-3.
If the Lions can keep their turnovers down against a spotty defense, one that also struggles on the road along with the signal-caller, they should run away with the victory.
Oakland Raiders (+1) over KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
These are two of the worst teams in the NFL, but Oakland gets the edge. Brady Quinn is starting at QB for KC, and it should be a gambling law to always bet against him.
The former first-round pick completed 22 of 38 passes for 180 yards and two interceptions in his first game as a starter this year, in a 38-10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He’s simply awful, and so are the Chiefs, which is why the slightly less terrible Raiders should sneak out of Arrowhead with a narrow victory.
New Orleans Saints (+6) over DENVER BRONCOS
The Saints are fighting to save their season, and a win against Peyton Manning’s squad would get them one game back from .500. It’s a desperate time in New Orleans, and Drew Brees is playing his heart out but getting little support from his defense.
Fortunately, this is a Sunday Night Football contest, a time slot that the Saints have starred in and most recently beat the San Diego Chargers 31-24 back in Week 5.
However, Denver is certainly a threat. The Broncos are 1-0 on SNF in 2012 and coming off a bye week. This one is ideal for a teaser, as getting N.O. at plus-13 or higher is a lock.
