Carlton Fisk: Former Red Sox Legend Arrested for DUI in Illinois Cornfield

As TMZ reports, Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk was arrested in Illinois on Monday night for suspicion of DUI.

The police may have gathered a clue that alcohol was involved when they saw Fisk's vehicle driving through a cornfield, with TMZ adding that law enforcement sources told them that the legendary backstop allegedly drove "his truck into the middle of a freakin' corn field."

Fisk quickly found himself in an Illinois hospital. 

He was arrested on the scene and then transported to a nearby medical facility, where TMZ reports he refused a blood-alcohol test. 

In a weird twist of fate, this arrest occurred one day after the 37th anniversary of Fisk's iconic, barely fair World Series home run as a member of the Boston Red Sox in Game 6 against the Cincinnati Reds. 

TMZ also reports that Fisk was released from custody Tuesday morning. 

The evidence appears to be stacked against Fisk in this case. Besides the fact he was in a cornfield, which I am presuming he does not own, TMZ passed along the following:

When police arrived, officers say they found Fisk behind the wheel of his F-150—which had a flat tire—and he appeared to be fast asleep. We're told cops also found an open vodka bottle in the vehicle.

"

Fisk played in the majors for an amazing 24 seasons—all at catcher—which is actually an American League record.  

He retired after the 1993 season with the Chicago White Sox. He spent 13 seasons with Chicago after beginning his career with Boston in 1969. Fisk is one of the greatest catchers the game has ever seen.
