WWE News: Sheamus and Stone Cold Steve Austin Interact on Twitter

Gone Baby GoneJun 4, 2018

Here we go again.

It seems almost every other week some wrestler is embroiled in a war of words with another star or celebrity. Now Sheamus and WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin have found themselves battling it out in 140 characters or less.

The biggest difference is, it was friendly. Yeah, weird isn't it?

It all began late Friday afternoon when word broke that Austin had released his latest column for Fighting Spirit Magazine. In it were some harsh realities for current World Champion Sheamus. Some of the comments made were more constructive than not, and he even mentioned that the WWE also had work to do when it came to the Irish star.

Here is a small excerpt:

"

Sheamus is a big talented dude, no doubt about it. Can he get to where the company wants him to go? That remains to be seen, and there's a lot of work required from both him and the company in order to jump to that superstar level. He's doing fine for the amount of time he's been in the business, and there is no disrespect intended, but there are so many aspects that go towards making a guy draw money with the title

"

In the grand scheme of things, this isn't the worst criticism spewed from "The Texas Rattlesnake's" mouth. Let's face it, Austin is very critical about the business and how stars are perceived.  He is very aware of the climate of today's WWE and knows what it takes to be the big dog.

Apparently Sheamus got wind of the piece and took to Twitter to defend himself:

""

To which Austin responded:

""

And that's where it ended.

No big talk or tough words, no challenges to a match, nothing. Just two men talking out their differences on Twitter. Personally, I am quite baffled, as I believe this is the first time that any Twitter war ended so abruptly and nicely.

I guess the one thing to take from this is that Sheamus has some great self-realizations about himself and his career. Yet he still has enough confidence in his skills to go out there night in and night out and give it all.

In the end, Sheamus has a long way to go in order to win over any hardcore fans. Although he has some great people backing him, he needs to figure out how to transcend "The Celtic Warrior" gimmick and give fans something they can get behind.
