New York Yankees Won't Trade for A-Rod Replacement
The Yankees will not seek to replace Alex Rodriguez via trade and instead seem content with keeping Cody Ransom at third until he returns from the DL.
“I’m not optimistic about doing anything,” Yankees GM Brian Cashman said. “I’m not going to be proactive in trying to do something. If something presents itself that makes sense, which is not realistic, then maybe it will be somebody different. I think our answer is here in camp.
“With the team not wanting add payroll, not wanting to hurt the farm system and stuff like that, and we’re going to get Alex back, we’re going to go with what we have in camp,” Cashman said.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Cashman said that he has not spoken with other teams about their third basemen, which should put an end to Bobby Crosby trade rumors, but he has spoken with the agents of the remaining free agent options.
For me, the problem with A-Rod out of the lineup is not replacing him with Cody Ransom. Over such a short time span even a guy like Ransom might manage to hit .300. Even if he doesn’t a month or so without A-Rodwill not kill the Yankees.
My problem is more with putting Angel Berroa on the roster.
They are going to have to remove someone from the 40-man roster to add him to the team. Even in a limited role I cannot see what he brings to the table. He has really only played shortstop during his career, he’s not particularly good defensively, and cannot hit a lick.
In the likely event they are going to carry a utility infielder they should call up Ramiro Pena. The Yankees still have the problem of adding him to the 40-man roster, but at least this guy would add something to the team. He might have much going with his bat, but he’s already said to be plus defensively which is all you need in a utility infielder.
