ALDS Game 3: Oakland Down 0-2 to Detroit: Broadcast Notes and Preview

James WilliamsOct 9, 2012

All season long, the Oakland A's have had a flair for the dramatic, and down 2-0 to the Detroit Tigers the drama could not be more intense.

But Oakland fans know that sweeping favored teams at home is what got them into the playoffs in the first place, so now they just need to win three in a row to advance.

Tonight's telecast on TBS begins at 9 p.m. ET with the broadcast team of Don Orsillo (play-by-play), Buck Martinez (analyst) with Jamie Maggio (reporter) on hand in Oakland.

The forecast for the the game, according to the Weather Channel, calls sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70's.

Here are some quotes from the TBS analyst Buck Martinez on the series thus far:

Martinez on Oakland’s Josh Reddick: “Reddick wore down at the end of the season. He’s just a little guy…the rigors of playing every single day caught up to him in September.”

Martinez on Detroit’s Prince Fielder: “This is his first year in the American League. He’s a guy that is a very smart hitter and likes to know who he is facing. It will take him a while to get acclimated to the pitchers in the American League.”

Martinez on the athletic ability of the Athletics' and Tigers' outfielders: “Before the series is over, we are going to see some spectacular plays in the outfield. Both of these teams have outfielders that can really go get it. They both have outstanding centerfielders and the corner outfielders are very athletic.”

In Detroit, WXYT 97.1FM Tigers Radio Network will have all-day coverage of the game today. The pregame show gets underway at  6 p.m.

If you are outside of the Detroit market and wish to listen to the game, ESPN Radio will offer the national broadcast. You can also download their mobile app for your tablet or smartphone and listen to the game free.
