Golf fans will get to see some of today's most recognizable celebrities, famous Chicago sports legends as well as some of the Ryder Cup's most memorable past captains on Tuesday afternoon in Medinah, Illinois.

UPDATE: Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 9:53 p.m. ET by Richard Langford

Michael Phelps is a winner. As if his bazillion gold medals didn't drive this point home, maybe the fact that he won this event will.

Phelps and his team of actor George Lopez and golfers Hal Sutton and Lanny Wadkins took first in the Ryder Cup scramble.

The four finished at 9-under, which gave them a three-stroke cushion over the second-place team of Tom Lehman, Dave Stockton, Justin Timberlake and Bill Murray. (H/T NBC's Saba Hamid)

How Will Michael Phelps Perform Out of Water?

Just months after becoming the most decorated Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps will help tee off some of the festivities at the 39th Ryder Cup in Medinah this week. Phelps is one of eight celebrities and Chicago sports legends who will be featured in Tuesday's Captains & Celebrity Scramble.

But will the same drive that propelled him to 22 Olympic medals in the pool help him out on the golf course? It's hard to imagine Phelps taking down any past Ryder Cup captains, but one way or another the guy is a competitor and shouldn't be doubted.

Can Scottie Pippen Win Without Michael Jordan?

Although most people have always wondered how vital Scottie Pippen was to Michael Jordan's success with the Chicago Bulls back in the day, Tuesday will provide us with some answers as to how important Jordan was to Pippen's golf game.

Everyone knows Jordan is a golf connoisseur, but did his love for the game rub off on Pippen back in the 1990s? We'll find out on Tuesday when the NBA legend leads the celebs into a showdown with the past Ryder Cup captains at Medinah Country Club.
