Week 3 Injury Report: Breaking Down the AFC East Inactives

Erik Frenz
Sep 23, 2012

Game-day actives andย inactivesย can have a huge impact on the games.ย

So here's one easy spot to keep track of all theย inactivesย around the AFC East, accompanied with my thoughts on how they could impact the game.

Buffalo Bills

QB Tarvaris Jackson
RB Fred Jackson
WR Ruvell Martin
C Colin Brown
T Sam Young
DE Kyle Moore
LB Kirk Morrison

What It Means:

The Bills will have safety Jairus Byrd for this contest; he was limited in practice with a foot injury this week.

Fred Jackson's injury figures to keep him out at least another two weeks.

Cleveland Browns

QB Thaddeus Lewis
RB Brandon Jackson
WR Jordan Norwood
TE Alex Smith
T Ryan Miller
LB James-Michael Johnson
FS Eric Haag

What It Means:

Trent Richardson tore it up last week for the Browns, but Cleveland will be without one of their spell options behind him, meaning there could be more pressure on him to carry an increased workload.ย

The absence of Ryan Miller leaves the Browns just three deep at tackle.

New York Jets

QB Gregย McElroy
CB Donnie Fletcher
FB John Conner
DT Marcus Harrison
TE Caleb Schlauderaff
T Dennis Landolt
TE Dustin Keller

What It Means:

We already knew about Keller's absence from this game, which means quarterback Mark Sanchez will be without one of his security blanketsย (according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News).

The absence of Conner means the Jets will be without their lead blocker in the running game.

Donnie Fletcher was called up from the practice squad earlier this week, but will be inactive for today's game.

Miami Dolphins

WR Marlon Moore
WR Rishard Matthews
TE Michael Egnew
T Will Yeatman
LB Ray Feinga
WRย Pat Devlin
DT Tony McDaniel

What It Means:

This is Michael Egnew's third straight week on the inactives list; following a poor showing on Hard Knocks,ย he still has yet to show that he is ready for game day.

Will Yeatman was formerly a tight end, but switched to tackle this offseason. His inactivity could mean that his position switch remains a work in progress.

Marlon Moore and Tony McDaniel have been battling injuries all week in practice.

New England Patriots

DE Brandon Deaderick
RB Shane Vereen
TE Aaron Hernandez
CB Alfonzo Dennard
DE Justin Francis
DE Jake Bequette
OL Nick McDonaldย

What It Means:

The injury to Aaron Hernandez occurred last week, making this the first without him on the active roster.

Running back Shane Vereen has yet to be active this season, and there are serious doubts from this end as to whether he is a healthy or unhealthy scratch. He is listed with a foot injury.

Defensive end Jake Bequette is the only healthy scratch. The absence of defensive tackle Brandon Deaderick means the Patriots are without one of their most underrated interior pass-rushers.

Baltimore Ravens

WR LaQuan Williamsย
T Jah Reidย
CB Asa Jacksonย
OLB Sergio Kindleย
DT Bryan Hallย
TE Billy Bajemaย
DE DeAngelo Tyson

What It Means:

Wide receiver Torrey Smith will be active despite the death of his brother earlier on Sunday.ย

LaQuan Williams is listed as the Ravens fourth wide receiver on the depth chart.ย
