Peter Abraham says there has been no updates on A-Rod’s current situation. I’m not really concerned about the injury, as he was playing in a game and the Yankees allowed him to do his normal physical activities. I’m curious to see what the doctor says anyway.

Billy Crystal now has a baseball card in the newly released 2009 Topps set. He gets an at-bat in spring training and now he has his own baseball card. Haha. The card is a short printed on card autograph, which can be found one in every 60,000 packs.

Good luck with that. You are better off bidding on this one if you’re interested. The card was also previously made in limited release by Topps for Crystal’s birthday. That is a card I would like to add to my collection some day...

Joseph Pawlikowski over at River Avenue Blues talks about the expectations fans have for Robinson Cano. It’s a good read. I am expecting a big bounce back season from Robbie as well, so it will be interesting to see if he goes back to his ‘06/’07 form.

Manny Ramirez just signed a two-year/$45M contract with the LA Dodgers. That contract also includes an opt-out clause, so could he end up in pinstripes next season?

With Matsui, Damon, & Nady hitting the free agent market..it is definitely a possibility. Ramirez has stated that he would like to get back at the Red Sox…

Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors mentions the 45 worst contracts in all of baseball. Three Yankees contracts made the list.They are: Jorge Posada Four years, $52MM ($13MM per year).

Signed November of 2007. Hideki Matsui, Yankees. Four years, $52MM ($13MM per year). Signed November of 2005. Kei Igawa, Yankees. Five years, $46MM ($9.2MM per year). Signed in December of ‘06.

The AP reports that A-Rod’s hip bothered him last season.“Alex expressed a little stiffness. There was really no pain,” Girardi said on Wednesday, a day after the 33-year-old slugger played for the Dominican Republic in a tuneup for the World Baseball Classic.

Kat O’Brien talks about Phil Hughes and how he is preparing for the upcoming season. He lost his spot in the rotation after the Yankees spent $400M this off-season, but he is determined to get back with the big league club. I really hope he pitches well this season.

Tyler Kepner asks...Who is the best athlete on the Yankees? I would say Mariano Rivera, but according to Johnny Damon, Cody Ransom is. He has a 62-inch vertical jump. I must say that it is very impressive.
