Lightweight Electric Skateboards Are in Your Near Future

Gabe ZaldivarJun 5, 2018

Finally, a way to skateboard for guys like me who hate to travel as well as exercise.

Need to get uphill and don't feel like pushing yourself? Carrying some extra pounds and don't want to walk?

We have the answer for you, and it will only cost about $1,300.

NBC Sports reports the beautiful wave of the future, electric skateboards. Of course, my view of their need is far too shortsighted.

This could actually be quite the innovative change in personal travel.

You can view a video of the Boosted Board over at the Kickstarter page for the product. Currently, they have already raised more than $290,000 of the needed $100,000.

The key here is thinking of this as a way to get from bus to bus or train to train without the weight and encumbrance of a bicycle.

According to the report, the board has a range of six miles, weighs about 12 pounds and can get up to speeds of 20 miles per hour.

Besides going up hills, it charges as you break and can be used as a regular old longboard when it runs out of power.

The real issue has to be the price of $1,299, which is the cost of a pre-order for one of these bad boys.

Still, this may just be the answer to those with troublesome commutes within urban areas. As the price comes down, this may be the best way to get to work.

Until hoverboards get invented, of course.
