Fantasy Football: 3 Top Players Guaranteed to Explode in Week 2

Erik CottonJun 4, 2018

Predicting fantasy football is a little like predicting the weather. Despite that, we're going to give you three players guaranteed to explode for your team in Week 2.

All of the normal factors are taken into account. Health, workload and matchups always dictate who you sit or start. Plus it's still early in the season, so bye weeks and nagging injuries are, for the most part, taken out of the equation.

So pencil these three in now, because they're sure to put up big-time points come Sunday.

1. Drew Brees

1 of 3

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints visit the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Last week in the loss to the Washington Redskins, Brees only completed 24-of-52 passes. Yet, he still ended up throwing for 339 yards and three TDs.

Sure he had two INTs. When your running game is as non-existent as the Saints' is, rarely will a QB throw 50 times and not have at least one picked off.

Brees is a master at getting garbage-time points, so even if he's losing, he's still productive.

Fantasy Line:  28-40 for 342 yards, 4 TDS and 1 INT.

2. Julio Jones

2 of 3

The Atlanta Falcons host the Monday night game this week against the Denver Broncos.

After last week's six receptions for 108 yards and two TDs, there's no sitting Jones this week.  Many saw that game as his statement to the league that's he's ready to dominate.

It'll be interesting to see who Denver has Champ Bailey match up against; Jones or Roddy White.

Either way, look for Jones to have his official coming-out party in front of a national TV audience on Monday night.

Fantasy Line:  9 receptions, 137 yards and 2 TDs.

3. C.J. Spiller

3 of 3

If you asked your average NFL fan who the leading rusher was after Week 1, few would guess it was Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller.

The former Clemson burner is primed to repeat his explosive performance of last week. He was really the only bright spot in an otherwise abysmal loss to the New York Jets.

The Bills host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon, who are fresh off of giving up a 40-spot to the Falcons.

With Fred Jackson hurt and Ryan Fitzpatrick struggling, look for Spiller to get around 25 touches this week. He is a no-brainer in PPR leagues.

Fantasy Line:  18 carries, 111 yards and 1 TD; 5 receptions, 73 yards and 1 TD.
