Week 2 NFL Picks: Teams Who Will Shake Opening Week Struggles in Convincing Wins

Jeremy FuchsSep 16, 2012

Week 1 of the NFL season is a time of hope for all teams. Every team thinks they can win it all, but some teams have more legitimate claims to that belief. And some of these teams, like the New York Giants, Cincinnati Bengals, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs, had their seasons start off in the most disappointing fashion with tough losses.

The belief here is that they will rebound in convincing fashion in Week 2. We'll tell you why below.

New York Giants

The Giants became the first defending Super Bowl Champion to lose in Week 1 since 1999. Not a great way to start their title defense.

The Giants are heading down to Tampa Bay to take on the surprising 1-0 Buccaneers, who looked terrific against the Carolina Panthers. The Bucs have the makings of a top defense.

However, the Giants won't be plagued by drops and penalties like they were against the Cowboys in Week 1. Plus, the Giants have a better passing game than the Panthers.

Look for the Giants to put the Bucs back in place, with a convincing 28-14 victory.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals did not look good in Week 1, getting crushed by the Baltimore Ravens 44-13.

This week should be different. The Browns are not the Ravens, and they're missing their best defender in suspended cornerback Joe Haden. Andy Dalton should shine.

The Bengals D will have a field day against Brandon Weeden and A.J. Green will put up big numbers as they cruise to a 35-10 victory.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers fell to Peyton Manning and the new-look Broncos, but the same fate should not befall them in Week 2.

While the Jets looked terrific in their Week 1 victory against the Bills, they will be without the services of all-pro cornerback Darrelle Revis. Antonio Brown and Mike Wallace could have huge games.

In addition, the Steelers defense should give Mark Sanchez much more trouble than the Bills defense did.

Look for the Steelers to get back on the winning track, with a 21-10 victory.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs came into this season with high expectations. Then they got completely smoked by the Atlanta Falcons.

That should change this week, as the Chiefs take on the Bills, who looked like one of the worst teams in the league last week. If Mark Sanchez can have success against them, so should Matt Cassel.

With Fred Jackson out for the Bills, they will struggle to put up points. This one could get ugly. Look for the Chiefs to come out on top with a 28-7 score.
