NFL Picks Week 2: Teams Sure to Rebound After Week 1 Loss

Mike MoraitisJun 7, 2018

Some NFL teams had a rough first week of the season, and while spirits might now be low, those same teams have an opportunity to turn things around in Week 2.

Here are some teams that will rebound from their Week 1 loss.

Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati received a beatdown at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, a feeling that has become all too familiar in past years. Cincy gained 322 total yards in the game and were only able to muster up 13 points.

But in Week 2, the Bengals will play the Browns, a team that is far less talented defensively. In fact, they aren't in the same universe as the Ravens. Not to mention, the Browns have a rookie quarterback who had more success getting stuck under the American flag than he did in the actual game.

The Bengals have a solid defense that will put a ton of pressure on Brandon Weeden and the Browns offense. If Weeden thought the Philadelphia Eagles were tough and forced him to make mistakes, just wait until he sees the Bengals.

This matchup is perfect for a team like Cincy who lost its first game of the season. Barring a miracle, the Bengals should have no problem winning this game.

New York Giants

After overlooking their Week 1 opponent, the Dallas Cowboys, the Giants should be more than motivated to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their first win of the season.

The Giants looked out of sync offensively in Week 1, and Victor Cruz apparently didn't bring his hands to the game, while Hakeem Nicks barely showed up. Don't expect this team to look that bad on the offensive end two weeks in a row, especially with Eli Manning at the helm.

The Bucs won their first game of the season, but even with all of their new offensive weapons, Tampa Bay only scored 16 points against a Carolina Panthers defense that is questionable at best.

New York will bring much more heat on the defensive end and Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman won't have nearly the same amount of time to stay in the pocket and find his open receivers. That will make scoring points a nightmare for Tampa Bay.

The Bucs won't be able to keep up with the Giants on either side of the ball and that should result in the G-Men evening up their record.

Oakland Raiders

The Raiders fell short in their Week 1 game against the San Diego Chargers thanks to a nonexistent rushing attack and terrible special teams play.

Carson Palmer looked good, but the Raiders weren't able to get into the end zone until the fourth quarter.

In Week 2, the Raiders will take on the Miami Dolphins, one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Dolphins will be sporting their rookie quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, who had a boatload of problems against the Houston Texans in Week 1.

Oakland will enjoy a much easier matchup this week and should be handed plenty of gifts from the arm of Tannehill, giving them extra possessions to work with.

On the offensive end, the Raiders should be able to move the ball on the ground against a less talented Dolphins defensive unit. Not to mention, if Palmer was able to have success against the Chargers defense, he should light it up against Miami.
