Tigers' Miguel Cabrera Sticks Up for Manager Jim Leyland by Taking Fan's Sign

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

Miguel Cabrera showed a great deal of class recently when he signed some baseballs and stole some property from a nearby fan.

Granted, the act wasn't nearly as nefarious as that. Really, he took a sign off a fan that read "Fire Leyland" on it.

At least, that's what I assume it read judging by the title of the YouTube video.

You get the idea the man behind the camera doesn't like the Tigers' skipper, and he berates him while Cabrera tries to sign some balls.

It would be very easy for Miggy to launch into a tirade with this fan and stick up for his manager. Instead, he continues signing autographs and getting on with his day, safe in the knowledge that the sign has been confiscated.

Detroit Sports Rag (h/t Larry Brown Sports) reports the sign was made by Justin Spiro, and that he has been ejected three times from US Cellular in the past.

This video becomes memorable at the 1:18 mark when a woman off camera states, "You are an awesome, awesome man."

That's when Spiro chimes in with, "He's a man who steals signs."

That had Miggy laughing pretty good and all is forgiven. So if you make a sign disrespecting his skipper, you get it taken away.

Make him laugh, you get it back.
