Lawler continues to make progress in his recovery from the heart attack he suffered less than three weeks ago. He will make an appearance at the Mid-South Fair on Friday, where he will meet with fans and call matches, according to Scott Carroll of the Commercial Appeal.

The legendary wrestler was originally slated to participate in the action, but will take on a less strenuous role instead. It's the right move for Lawler, who shouldn't try to push himself too quickly after the scary incident.

He made a brief appearance via satellite on this week's Raw, another sign that he's on the road to a full recovery. It's great to see.

"

This is wonderful news for the WWE legend. He's been through a lot in the past several days, and this is the news everyone was waiting to hear.

Update: Friday, Sept. 14 at 10:45 a.m. ET

Lawler posted a video last night updating fans on his progress and thanking everybody for their support, based on a report from TMZ. The WWE legend has been in the hospital since his heart attack during Raw on Monday night.

In the video he talks about all the wires connected to his body and actually sounds pretty good. He isn't back to full strength yet, but a lot of progress has certainly been made since the scary situation and he is clearly on the road to recovery.

Hopefully all of the reports out of Canada continue to be positive in the coming days and he's able to head home to rest.

Update: Thursday, Sept. 13 at 8:30 a.m. ET

All things considered, the news is very good for Jerry Lawler.

According to tweets from Michael Cole, Lawler is in great spirits and close to being his old self again.

"

#wweuniverse you will never believe this!I just got off the phone with #jerrylawler and he is alert and in great spirits!

— Michael Cole (@MichaelCole) September 13, 2012"
"

#jerrylawler sends his love to you all and thanks you for all the support! He says the strap will be coming down soon!

— Michael Cole (@MichaelCole) September 13, 2012"
"

Folks #jerrylawler is going to win this!

— Michael Cole (@MichaelCole) September 13, 2012"

Given where we were at on Monday night, the fact that Lawler is alert and talking speaks volumes about how lucky he was and how great a job the EMT's did in reacting to a scary situation.

Hopefully it won't be too long before The King is back where he belongs: At the Raw announce table.

Update: Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 11:25 a.m. ET

WWE legend Jim Ross passes along a report from a Memphis television station, which is where Lawler resides, that provides some great news about Lawler's condition.

"

Memphis TV channel 3 reports @jerrylawler has NO brain damage from his Monday night heart attack. Thank God for WWE doctors & EMTS.

— Jim Ross (@JRsBBQ) September 12, 2012"

The full report from WMC-TV talks about how friends and family were worried about possible brain damage after the scary incident, so the test results has raised spirits. Lawler remains stabilized at the hospital after a heart procedure.

UPDATE: Tuesday, September 11 at 11:30 a.m. ET

According to a report from WMC-TV in Memphis, Lawler is going to go under the knife at some point today.

"

Jerry "The King" Lawler will have heart surgery Tuesday after suffering a heart attack during an WWE event Monday night.

The 62-year-old is in stable condition and is breathing on his own at a hospital in Montreal, Canada.

"

Hopefully all goes well for him in surgery today and this whole mess can be put in the rear-view mirror. Any surgery is scary, but when you hear that it is heart surgery, you can't help but feel a little squeamish.

-----------END OF UPDATE-----------

In case you missed it, there was a tag-team match going on between the Prime Time Players and Kane and Daniel Bryan when the crowd could be seen staring in the direction of the announce table.

EMTs and medical personnel rushed Lawler to the hospital. Michael Cole provided an update during the show, which also appeared on WWE's Twitter account, saying that Lawler was responding and was awaiting a CT Scan.

"

Update from @michaelcole on #RAW: @jerrylawler is "more responsive," "reacting to lights," awaiting CAT scan at ER. #PrayForLawler

— WWE (@WWE) September 11, 2012"

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez of WrestlingObserver.com provided a slew of news and information about Lawler during their post-Raw radio show. (via NoDQ)

"

Lawler, still listed in stable condition, had either some kind of heart surgery or a Cardiac catheterization, reports are conflicting. Cardiac catheterization is where a catheter is inserted into a chamber in the heart for investigational and interventional purposes

"

They also reported that they are still looking at "blood being cut off to Lawler's brain and potential damage from that."

Arda Ocal of the Baltimore Sun provided more information on that topic, saying that Lawler did, in fact, undergo a heart procedure.

"

Received word from two sources that Jerry Lawler has undergone a heart procedure to repair blockage.

— Arda Ocal (@arda_ocal) September 11, 2012"

The situation felt like something out of a horror movie. We are so accustomed to hearing talking all the time between the announcers, but you had this horrible silence that fell over everything. It was haunting.

At least, based on Cole's report, Lawler was responsive when doctors were examining him. We will keep you updated on the situation as more information becomes available.
