New York Yankees' Spring Training Analysis: Grading The Yanks After Six Games
The New York Yankees and the Houston Astros finished today’s game in a 5-5 tie. Here are today’s grades:
A+ Melky Cabrera
It looks as though Melky isn’t giving away that center field position quite yet! He went 2 for 3 with one run scored and two RBI.

A+ Angel Berroa
Berroa had a nice game going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and one RBI.
B+ Chien-Ming Wang
Nice debut from Wang. I decided to give him a B+ and not an A because he only pitched two innings. He gave up no runs and gave up only two hits. Niiice.
C Nick Swisher
Swisher went hitless but he did walk and score a run.
D Brett Tomko
Tomko pitched two innings, walked one batter and gave up an earned run. He did have two strikeouts. It might be more of a C- grade but letting in a run in two innings does not translate into a good ERA.
F George Kontos
So he won’t be on the opening day roster this year. So what? He did pitch and he needs to be graded. He gave up three earned runs on three hits in one-third of an inning. He only got one out. That’s worthy of an F grade.
Player of the Game: Melky Cabrera. Melky came into this game with only one hit (I’m pretty sure about it) and he needed some badly because Gardner has been winning the spring training battle for center field.
