Washington Wizards: When is Avery Johnson Coming to Coach?
Ivan Carter of the Washington Post recently did an article about possible head coaching replacements for Washington Wizards interim head coach Ed Tapscott.
It was good in listing the possible scenarios:
"Any potential list likely includes the names of Flip Saunders, who has had successful stints with the Pistons and Timberwolves; Avery Johnson, who nearly won a championship with the Mavericks in 2006; and Sam Mitchell, who guided the Raptors to the playoffs last season.

As with everything else involving Abe Pollinโs franchise, the choice of the new coach will likely revolve around Arenas, the mercurial star who is armed with a $111 million contract and a mixture of talent and personality that can alternately make a coach look like a genius or make him want to jump off the Key Bridge."
However, it didnโt give enough face time to Avery Johnsonโs potential candidacy for the job.
Granted, Johnson may not want it, or the Wizards may not want him. But if Johnson could make the Dallas Mavericks play defense and go to the NBA Finals, why couldnโt he make it work in Washington?
What the heck are they waiting for?
