'NBA 2K13': New Social Media Feature Makes This Year's Version Best Yet

For those who just can't get enough of 2K Sports' NBA2K franchise, the latest version, NBA 2K13, is going to make your head spin.

Whether you are at school, at work or on the move, you'll be able to enjoy the NBA2K experience from anywhere with the debut of NBA2K Everywhere.

Say what?

A brilliant idea by the minds at 2K Sports, this feature brings with it an application for your mobile device, a Facebook-based social game and, wait for it, a full-featured multi-player mobile version of NBA2K13 for your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android devices.

MyNBA2K, the mobile application, comes out in October for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Android and Kindle devices. It features different training exercises, pickup games and mini-games that include free-throw drills, a dribbling course and an autograph signing.

The Facebook social game will be called NBA 2K: MyLIFE, and it allows you to import your My Player avatar from Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 and challenge your friends in a variety of skills competitions. If beating your friends for the entire world to see wasn't enough, doing so unlocks clothing, dunk packages and more on your console version.

While that's all great, the best part of NBA2K Everywhere is the full-featured multi-player version of the game. You can take on your friends via Bluetooth and Game Center (iOS version only) either in a regular game or re-enact some of the NBA's signature games in the NBA's Greatest Mode.

With both the graphics and multi-touch controls significantly improved, it figures to make last year's version look antiquated.

The folks over at 2K Sports have raised the bar, not only for NBA2K, but for all of the franchises that they and other video game developers come out with annually.

What can they do to top themselves next year?

My pick: 3-D holograms who fly through your living room, dish dimes, swat shots and make you flinch on your couch.
