Manny Pacquiao's Hesitancy to Announce Next Opponent Proves Options Are Weak

The details surrounding Manny Pacquiao's next fight are coming at a snail's pace. The hesitancy to release details should tell us something about how Pac-Man feels about the fight.

I've been very outspoken about my lack of excitement toward Pacquiao's December bout. On Wednesday, I pined for the date to be canceled to open up other options.

The dates have changed, per Dan Rafael of ESPN, but still no opponent has been named.

Bob Arum told Brad Cooney of 8countnews.com that Pacquiao has chosen an opponent, but he couldn't reveal who that opponent was?

Really?

I don't buy the thought that Manny doesn't want to steal the spotlight from the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.-Sergio Martinez fight on September 15. Chavez Jr. is also promoted by Arum and Top Rank.

That middleweight clash is huge, and no fight announcement for December would dull the shine of that bout.

Pacquiao's delay in making a choice and an announcement shows that he knows how underwhelming his announcement will be.

This makes it appear that a fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez is likely. That potential bout carries the least amount of intrigue of all the possible fights Pacquiao could make.

Per Rafael, there are only two options: Marquez or a rematch with Timothy Bradley.

If Pacquiao were going to try to avenge his June loss to Bradley, it seems he would have made this fight two months ago.

If a legend like Pacquiao hadn't lost a fight in seven years and was defeated in a controversial split decision, you'd think a rematch would be a no-brainer.

The longer it takes for Pac-Man to announce his next opponent, the more likely it won't be Bradley.

Manny should just announce that the next fight is against Marquez and stop trying to break it to us slowly.
