New York Yankees' Fifth Spring Training Game: Grades for All
The New York Yankees lost to the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 13-11 this afternoon. With a high scoring game, there are going to be very good grades and very bad grades.
A+ Derek Jeter
Derek Jeter had a perfect game, going 3-for-3 and scoring two runs. Hopefully he’ll stay healthy and have a big year so he gets closer to 3,000 hits.

10 Scorching MLB Takes 🌶️

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
A+ Robinson Cano
Cano had a perfect game as well. He went 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run scored. Maybe I should keep him in my fantasy baseball keeper league.
A Brett Gardner
Gardner added another home run while going 2-for-3, scoring one run. It’s not looking too good for Melky.
A - Alex Rodriguez
Alex hit a home run and went 2-for 3 with two RBI. He’s exceeding my expectations thus far. It is only spring, though.
B+ Mark Teixeira
Teixeira went 2-for-3 with one run scored. He’ll have a big year batting in front of A-Rod.
B - Cody Ransom
Ransom had an OK performance. He went 1-for-4 with one run scored.
D Xavier Nady
The whole team is scoring at will against the Reds and you contribute nothing by going 0-for-3 with a strikeout?! Come on Nady, get with the program! I’d like to give you an F, but there are too many Fs to go around.
F The whole pitching staff
Not one Yankee pitcher got through an inning without giving up a run. Terrible, terrible job. All seven pitchers in the game gave up at least one run.
Alfredo Aceves pitched one inning and gave up three earned runs; Damaso Marte gave up two two home runs in one inning of work; Christian Garcia gave up three earned runs on three hits in one inning, and that’s just to name a few.
Yankees fans are lucky it’s only spring training!
