BMW Championship 2012 TV Schedule: Complete Listings and Tee Times
What's at Stake
$10 million.
Okay, that's overstating it a bit. The prize fund for the BMW Championship is $8 million, with the winner receiving $1.44 million. However, every one of the 70 golfers competing in the BMW Championship are still statistically eligible to win the FedEx Cup and the $10 million check that goes to the winner.
The top 30 point leaders after the conclusion of the BMW Championship will advance to play at the TOUR Championship in Atlanta. The winner of the BMW Championship will receive 2,500 FedEx Cup points, enough to leapfrog any of the top seven golfers into first place and to put a few dozen more within striking distance of the top spot.
Rory McIlroy is currently atop the leaderboard with 4,799 points after his win at the Deutsche Bank Championship last weekend. Nick Watney, winner of The Barclays, is in second place with 3,468 points, and Tiger Woods is just a hair behind in third place with 1,382 points. Brandt Snedeker, Louis Oosthuizen, Dustin Johnson and Jason Dufner are all within 2,500 points of McIlroy, making the BMW Championship particularly important to their FedEx Cup hopes.
The Course
The Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind., will play host to this year's BMW Championship. The course is located just outside of Indianapolis, and was built in 1964 by Pete and Alice Dye.
Crooked Stick is 7,516 yards in distance, and is a par 72. The course has previously played host to the 1993 U.S. Women's Cup, 2005 Solheim Cup, 2009 U.S. Senior Open and, most significantly, the 1991 PGA Championship.
