Inter Milan Transfer Speculation: 8 Shock Players They Could Pursue in January
Inter Milan have made several good signings this summer and also sold many of the club's top earners as Massimo Moratti attempted to slash the wage bill and maintain competitiveness on the pitch at the same time.
The Nerazzurri are under the guidance of their former Primavera manager Andrea Stramaccioni, who will gradually develop this squad with his own style and ideas.
Despite the financial constraints, Inter have never been afraid to strengthen the side, and I fully expect them to continue to add to their squad in the January transfer window.
Here are eight players that the Nerazzurri could target.
Theo Walcott, Arsenal
1 of 8Theo Walcott has entered the final year of his contract and it does not seem as if the England international is close to agreeing a new contract with Arsenal.
History shows us that the Gunners do not like to let their players leave for free, even if it is to the detriment of the side's success on the pitch for that season.
The Nerazzurri were linked with Walcott earlier this summer and it seems plausible that they could revisit the possibility of signing the Arsenal star.
The Gunners, should they be forced to sell, would probably prefer to sell abroad too.
Nicolai Boilesen, Ajax
2 of 8Nicolai Boilesen was a shock target for Inter this summer, according to the Mirror.
The Danish international would represent a smart change in the transfer policy too.
The Ajax left-back is only 20 years old and has high potential, but would cost substantially less than many other more experienced targets.
Mathieu Debuchy, Lille
3 of 8Mathieu Debuchy has been linked with a move away from Lille since Euro 2012.
The Les Bleus right-back was the subject of a €5m offer from Inter this summer.
With Javier Zanetti the current right-back, it seems like it could be an area that Inter target in January. Given that the LOSC star desperate to seek a new challenge, Debuchy could be targeted again.
Moussa Sissoko, Toulouse
4 of 8Moussa Sissoko was supposedly an Inter target this summer.
The Toulouse star is in the final year of his contract and would be a bargain if he can be prized away from the Ligue 1 outfit.
The 23-year-old already has three caps for France and could add some strength and athleticism to the Inter midfield.
Andre Ayew, Marseille
5 of 8Andre Ayew could be an Inter target again in January after it was reported that Inter were leading the race to sign the Ghanaian star.
The 22-year-old has 40 caps for Ghana and has a huge future ahead of him.
Marseille would probably want a fee in the region of €15 million in order to sanction such a move—something that might dissuade Inter given their financial predicament.
Yann M'Vila, Rennes
6 of 8Yann M'Vila was the subject of a transfer tussle between Arsenal and Inter Milan this summer, according to the Metro.
The French international is highly valued by both clubs and could be the subject of further talks in January.
M'Vila needs a new challenge after outgrowing Rennes and would jump at the chance to play in Serie A in order to further his career.
Paulinho, Corinthians
7 of 8Paulinho was the star of the Copa Libertadores triumph earlier this year.
The Corinthians star has been linked with a move to the Nerazzurri in January, which would suit the Timão as they could maintain their star player for the Club World Cup.
Paulinho, who has two caps for Brazil, is already 24 years old and would benefit from a move abroad at this stage of his career.
Sergio Floccari, Lazio
8 of 8After Inter loaned out Samuele Longo to Espanyol, the club was in need of a striker to cover for Diego Milito.
The Nerazzurri had targeted Sergio Floccari, fresh from a successful loan spell with Parma, but there was not enough time left in the window to complete the move.
Given that the striker does not appear to be in Vladimir Petkovic's plans, Floccari could be a simple piece of business at a low price for Inter in January.
