Tom Urtz Jr.May 31, 2018

The NHL is full of tons of devoted fans who support their team. Some of these fans go above and beyond and are recognized as superfans for they way they really support their team through various antics.

Some of these fans use wackiness, others display their message through signs, others like to dance and others show their dedication and passion through consistent repeat attendance.

The Green Men are currently the most popular of these superfans, but here are the NHL's wackiest and most passionate superfans.

Hulk Hogan Penguins Fan

What is not to love about this wacky Pittsburgh Penguins superfan? This supporter channeled his inner Hulk Hogan in both actions and appearance in order to psych up the crowd and the fans.

The impostor also was able to get under the skin of Scott Hartnell as he skated to the bench, culminating in the Flyers forward resorting to imitation tactics.

At the end of the day, this is definitely one amazing superfan.

Bob Gertenrich

Bob Gertenrich is one of the NHL's top superfans, but there isn't anything wacky about him. If anything, this Chicago Blackhawks superfan is extremely dedicated because at the time of this video, he had attended 2,000 consecutive home games.

Mr. Gertenrich is definitely very passionate and one of the NHL's top superfans. However, one could say that it is a bit wacky that this man has been able to attend so many consecutive games.

This video using The Office as a premise is a parody entry for an Anaheim Ducks superfan who wanted to win a brand new Honda. It was well-done and really got the message across that this man was a dedicated superfan.

It would be pretty amazing if this fan would be able to display this sort of behavior at the Honda Center during a Ducks home game.

This video is one of the funniest superfan videos on YouTube. This corporate suit is very emphatic in his support for the "Leafers," as he called them during the game.

He does his best to get the attention of Leaf players, the opposing Pittsburgh Penguins and the referees by pointing his fingers and then tapping on the glass.

The comments on this video also explain other wacky and wild actions that have been observed at other Leaf games.

Dancing Larry

7 of 13

Dancing Larry is one of the NHL's most dedicated fans and he always makes him impact known at New York Rangers home games. The Rangers season ticket holder usually feeds off the cue of the P.A. system pumping in "Strike It Up," made famous by Black Box.

At that point, Larry gets the crowd rocking and dancing to the beat. Sometimes, when the Rangers are trailing, Larry will make another appearance in order to get the crowd going to help support the team.

No matter how you slice it, Larry is one of the NHL's top superfans.

Anyone who has been to a New Jersey Devils game at Continental Airline Arena or the Prudential Center is familiar with Baumann and his signature chants and antics. He is a diehard Devils fan who is often featured on the Jumbotron during the game in order to get the fans into the action.

This superfan is also memorable for his signature "give me a D-E-V-I-L-S" chant that gets the building rocking. The season ticket holder supports his team all year long and is one of the most dedicated superfans in the NHL today.

If you go to YouTube and search "Super Habs Fan," there are a ton of videos that come up featuring this zany and wacky Habs fan. These videos often involve him getting very loud and energetic when talking about the Montreal Canadiens.

I would implore you to watch the video in which this man talks about a Game 7 prediction for the Habs back when the team was in a playoff run during the 2009-10 playoffs.

Washington Capitals Horn Guy

10 of 13

Sam Wolk is a Washington Capitals season ticket holder who sits in section 415, row D and seat No.4. Wolk is known as the Capitals' "Horn Guy" and he always attends Caps games with his signature vuvuzela horn.

Whenever you watch a game on television that features the Capitals at home, you will hear Wolk blowing his horn and the crowd rhythmically chanting "Let's go Caps."

Wolk sounds like a down-to-earth guy who is one of the NHL's most dedicated wacky and wild superfans.

The Green Men

11 of 13

The Green Men are widely considered the NHL's ultimate superfans. They are fans who get in the face of NHL players from behind the safety of the plexiglass, they dance, they taunt and they do tons of things to get under the skin of their opponents.

Nothing beats two diehard fans in green spandex suits putting it all on display for millions of fans around the world.

Philadelphia Flyers Sign Man

12 of 13

Dave Leonard is another dedicated fan who loves to show support for his team. Sign Man has been with the Philadelphia Flyers as a season ticket holder for decades and he has always displayed his wacky and poignant signs during home games.

This video interview does a great job explaining who this amazing superfan is and why he is so passionate when it comes to his signs.

Al Sobotka, "The Octopi Guy"

13 of 13

Although Al Sobotka is an employee for the Detroit Red Wings, he is one of the NHL's superfans for how he shows support for the Red Wings. The team even recognizes him with its giant octopus named "Al" that hangs from the Joe Louis Arena rafters.

Sobotka is the man responsible for taking the thrown octopi off the ice and he has the tradition of spinning the octopi around in the air in a way that mimics the fanbase's rally towels.

The NHL almost prohibited Sobotka from doing this, but it later allowed him to continue his tradition as long as he did it off the ice near the zamboni entrance.

As the video shows, Sobotka even holds an annual barbecue for the Red Wings and that really is something that gives this man superfan status.
