Another Change In Washington: Nationals GM Bowden Resigns

Old AccountMar 1, 2009

Here we are: March 2009.

Spring Training is finally here, and so many questions need to be answered. Where will Manny sign? How will A-Rod move on after the steroid debacle? However, we have a different story to share today: Washington Nationals GM Jim Bowden resigns after four seasons as the gm.

Frankly, this can do the Nationals only good. "It is an emotional decision that saddens me, but one that I feel is in the best interests of two of the things I love most—baseball and the Washington Nationals," Bowden said in a written statement.

The 1st four seasons of this franchise has been utter disappointment, and with their brand new over 100 million dollar stadium in affect, this team needs a direction.

Their build around player, Ryan Zimmerman, has been nothing but disappointment. And to top it all off, the Nats are the only team who can get fooled single handedly but a young player.

Esmailyn "Smiley" Gonzalez reportedly lied about his name and age to the Washington Nationals, who gave him a $1.6 million signing bonus. The Nats are currently trying to get out of this, however, there is a good chance it shall not happen.

We have seen sad stories with baseball franchises, but this is one of the all-time lows. Once the Expos, a team with good promise, now a team that can't even be a step higher then the Marlins.

This offseason we have seen teams such as The Royals and Orioles make improvements, the result will be sure improvement. This is probably the only team that has a setback going into this season, as we are ready to see another low-ball season by the Nationals in The Nation's Capital.
