Matches to Watch
Andy Murray (3) vs. Milos Raonic (15)
Andy Murray will have his work cut out for him in this one. Milos Raonic can blast his serves, and he is accurate.
However, Murray is one of the game's top returners. Raonic's service games are going to be fast and furious.
Murray has only lost one set so far in this tournament, but he has not looked his best. His last time on the court, he went four sets with Feliciano Lopez and it took well over three hours to do that.
Meanwhile, Raonic cruised past James Blake in straight sets his last time on the court. I smell an upset.
Prediction: Raonic in five sets
Serena Williams (4) vs. Andrea Hlavackova
Serena Williams should cruise in this match. The three-time U.S. Open winner has been in great form for months, and her blazing serves and booming backhands have her looking invincible.
Still, Hlavackova wasn't supposed to beat 14th Maria Kirilenko last round either, but she did just that 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. Maybe her upset train is not done chugging.
I certainly wouldn't bet on that, though. Serena isn't losing to anyone.
Prediction: Serena in straight sets
Tomas Berdych (6) vs. Nicolas Almagro (11)
This is going to be the match of the day. There will be some outstanding rallies and lots of winners.
For evidence of the potential of this match, we need look no further than the Round of 16 at the past Australian Open. Berdych took the match, but not before an epic 4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) battle ensued.
Both of these guys rely on the power game with their serves and groundstrokes. The ball is going to be flying all match, and this one is destined to go five.
Prediction: Berdych in five sets
