---END OF UPDATE---

Profar signed with Texas in July 2009 and has been soaring up prospect rankings ever since. He is excelling at every level of baseball he's played in, seemingly getting better along with his competition.

Playing for the Frisco RoughRiders in Double-A this season, Profar has hit .281 with 14 home runs and 62 RBI while swiping 16 bases and playing at an elite level on defense.

While not the most touted prospect in baseball coming into the season, Profar's brilliance this year has led many to consider him a guaranteed future superstar.

Included in those praises is ESPN Insider's Keith Law, who has Profar as his No. 1 prospect in all of baseball.

"

Profar has the ultimate mark of an elite prospect. He keeps improving even as he is challenged with better competition. In this case, the Rangers jumped the 19-year-old two levels to Double-A, where he has continued to hit for average, get on base, make contact, show surprising power for his size, hit from both sides of the plate and play plus defense. There's no real hole in his game, and he looks as if he'll be more than ready for the majors before he turns 21—another mark of a potential superstar—if the Rangers can create a spot for him.

"

According to the Morning News, Profar's overarching role will be pinch-hitting and pinch-running for Rangers manager Ron Washington, as the team looks to lock up the AL West crown.

Texas currently sits four games ahead of the Oakland Athletics and has the third-best roster in baseball at 78-53. If Profar can continue his ascension at the major league level, he could be able to swing a game or two in September for the club.

Going forward for Profar, this call-up is the ultimate vote of confidence. If he plays well this month, the Rangers are going to have an awfully interesting decision to make with Elvis Andrus entrenched at shortstop.

Regardless, all eyes will be glued to the 19-year-old star as he sets out to prove the hype is warranted.
