Roger Clemens Appears Locked and Loaded for His Next Start

Devon TeepleJun 7, 2018

Sources close to the Sugar Land Skeeters have told Deadspin that “Clemens has already penciled in September 7 as his next (and final?) start for the club.”

If this is his final start does that mean he suits up the Houston Astros sooner than later? I can’t think of any reason why Roger Clemens returning to the Astros is of benefit to anyone.

The Astros are terrible, and if Clemens did sign, they would pack the stadium for a couple starts—nothing Earth shattering.

Hypothetically, if Clemens does take the field for the Astros, he would not be eligible for the Hall of Fame for another five years. And because of that, the steroid talk that has followed him around and everything that goes along with it will subside.

Not too bad of an idea. Stay out of the limelight, and let the Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosas of the world take the heat for the time being.

If Clemens is MLB-ready, that’s great. If this is not a publicity stunt, even better. At least the focus is on baseball, not something that has overshadowed the game for quite sometime. And if that’s what Clemens brings to the Astros, I’m all for it.
