Kansas City Royals: Eric Hosmer's Production Just Another Reason to Be Excited

Matthew SmithJun 7, 2018

There have been a few different things to be excited about lately for the Kansas City Royals.  One of them is Eric Hosmer.

Hosmer has been playing much better baseball lately for the Royals.  In fact, he is batting .393 over the last 11 games.  More importantly, his production has been well-timed.

Bob Dutton from the Kansas City Star wrote on Monday that he has “fueled” a four- and a six-run inning while also delivering two game-winning hits on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox.

Not bad for a guy who was batting .172 at the end of May.

As the Royals prepare to finish this year strong and have third-place in their control, the future is coming into focus.  There are just so many reasons to be excited about Royals baseball right now.

Salvador Perez looks like a keeper.  Luis Mendoza is pitching very well.  Jeremy Guthrie looks like he may have a future with the Royals and, as always, the Royals are stocked at the minor league level.

To that effect, the Star’s Sam Mellinger wrote Tuesday that the Royals are “not that far away from being good.”  He pointed out that they have “a roster stocked with talented position players under long-term club control with enough potential pitching to provide the skeleton of a contender in the AL’s weakest division.”

Well put.

Now, it is up to Dayton Moore and the rest of the Royals brass to bring this thing together.
