Triple H: Now Is the Perfect Time for WWE Superstar to Retire

Donald WoodAug 28, 2012

While the WWE Universe is not as stupid as people may think, we as fans are not above falling into the storyline traps that the wrestling company sets for us.

That’s exactly what Triple H was doing on Monday Night Raw—setting a trap.

There is almost no doubt that Triple H is not actually retiring from in-ring action, but his speech given Monday and the crowd reaction made it feel like there could be a shred of reality to it.

Just as it was when Edge was forced to call it quits.

Triple H may not really be retiring, but looking at his career now and what the future holds, the veteran should seriously considering leaving the sport while he still has the choice.

All of the following reasons should convince Triple H that his storied career needs to be over.

In-Ring Work Will Start to Suffer

While Triple H’s in-ring style was never about speed or high flying, it was all about the power.

Throughout his WWE career, Triple H has always been one of the most physically dominant athletes in the sport. The problem is that the older you get, the harder it is for your body to accomplish the same feats and then recover from them.

The WWE Superstar knows all about this, as he was physically destroyed from his last two matches against Undertaker and Brock Lesnar. At 43 years old, there aren’t too many of those abusive matches the veteran’s body can take.

As we have seen too many times in the past, Triple H has the ability to continue to fight for right now, but it will start to disappear and ruin what was a signature style.

Before the pedigree fails to work anymore, Triple H needs to hang up his boots and call it a career.

Behind the Scenes Role

As we know, Triple H and wife Stephanie McMahon have taken on huge backstage roles helping the company in an everyday capacity.

From talent relations to booking, Triple H has his hands in every aspect of the business.

While his role backstage won’t satisfy his urge to be in front of the crowd and eat up the live crowd’s reaction, it will pay the bills and give him a chance to remain on the road when he needs to be.

The new job would also afford him more time away from the hustle and bustle of the WWE, and give him a chance to enjoy the next reason he should retire—his family.

Family

While there is no doubt that Triple H would come back to TV in an authoritative role like his father-in-law Vince McMahon, taking a step back from his presence in the ring would afford him more time to be with his wife and their three daughters.

Too many wrestlers have looked back on their careers and wished they had called it quits earlier, before the hand of Father Time or injuries caused them to leave the ring on terms other than their own; Triple H deserves better than that.

With his health intact and his family taken care of, Triple H will be a happier individual and help run a better business.

The fate of the WWE Universe will be in the hands of Triple H and Stephanie eventually, and the last thing we’d need is another Ric Flair calling the shots behind the scenes.
