Kevin Harvick's Nationwide: Sam's Town 300 Preview

Horn FanFeb 27, 2009

Kevin Harvick will be driving the No. 33 Rheem Kevin Harvick Inc. Chevrolet at Las Vegas this weekend. In the Sam's Town 300 on Saturday, he's on a mission to get his first win driving in his own equipment, and it could happen.

Harvick always runs well at Sin City. In eight Nationwide races, he's compiled one pole, one win, five top-fives, six top-10 finishes, and his worst finish is 13th.

Last year in his KHI equipment, he finished fourth, and is coming off a second last week at Fontana. No doubt that elusive first win in KHI equipment can't be that far behind.

The 33 crew has done a great job on pit road, making no mistakes, and I really like the addition of Ernie Cope as crew chief.

Cope was the crew chief last year for the KHI No. 2 truck during the 2008 Nationwide season. He and crew chief Rick Ren swapped crew chief duties for the 33 car.

I really like the combination of Happy and Ernie Cope, and am sure they'll be visiting Victory Lane.

If I were a gambling man?

I put $20 on the 33 to win Saturday.

Even more interesting, is that this appears to be the season of 33 right now. Happy is 33-years-old this year, he's looking to get his 33rd career win in the Nationwide Series, and he's driving the No. 33 KHI Chevrolet.

Perhaps even more exciting is the paint scheme for the No. 33 car at Vegas. This past week, Rheem made the announcement to sponsor a total of nine races, by adding four races for their Tankless Water Heaters.

Vegas makes the first race of four, which will sponsor this special paint scheme dubbed "Hot Water Heaven."

The 33 will have a blue water spray across the hood, then water drops down its sides and rear to portray the endless hot water supply available with the Rheem Tankless Water Heaters.

I did try looking for a picture of the car but didn't find one. I did see it on SPEED Channel during the Sam's Town 300 practice, and it looks sharp.

While I'm picking Rowdy in the Sprint Cup this week, I'm picking Happy for the Nationwide race. My tough week could turn into a "Happy Rowdy" one.
