Tournament Predictions
Men's Draw: Novak Djokovic vs. Roger Federer
This may not be a groundbreaking prediction here, but it's hard to argue with the roll both of these players are on right now.
Federer is right back at the top of the tennis world after a victory at Wimbledon and a silver medal performance at the Olympics. Djokovic has been consistent all season, posting a 54-10 record with three titles, including a win at the Australian Open and the Rogers Cup in Tortonto.
With two of the hottest stars in tennis on opposite sides of the draw, it's hard to pick against them navigating their way through the field to face each other in the final.
These two are extremely familiar with each other, as they have played a total of 28 times and four times this season. The series is tied 2-2 in 2012, but Federer won at Cincinnati on hard court, so he has the advantage going into this one.
Prediction: Federer in five sets.
Women's Draw: Serena Williams vs. Maria Sharapova
Since being shocked by Virginie Razzano in the first round of the French Open, Serena Williams has just been on a tear.
Her serve has been nearly unreturnable and she has simply blown away nearly every opponent this year on her way to a 46-4 mark on the season. After dominating the field at Wimbledon and her career-defining gold medal-performance at the Olympic games in London, there's little doubt that Williams will continue her dominance stateside.
Lost in Serena's total domination was a great performance by Maria Sharapova in the 2012 games that saw her breeze through the field before meeting a dominant Williams in the gold medal match. With all kinds of momentum from the Olympics behind her, Sharapova should put together another convincing run to the finals.
At this point, it doesn't matter who makes it to the finals opposite of Williams. She has been a dominant force lately and has proven to be unstoppable when she is at her best.
Prediction: Williams in two sets.
