WWE News: Paul Heyman's WWE Status Potentially Revealed

Gone Baby GoneJun 6, 2018

It appears we may be saying farewell to more than Chris Jericho and Brock Lesnar.

"Paul Heyman's immediate WWE future is said to be up in the air, as previous reports suggested his deal expired on or around SummerSlam.

Because Brock Lesnar "quit" WWE last night, it's likely that Heyman will be kept off TV until Lesnar makes his eventual return.

This move isn't entirely surprising, considering his return was solely based around Brock Lesnar. Sadly, "The Long Island Loud-Mouth" never really reclaimed his old glory with fans. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't call his return a flop—just misdirected.

Heyman has a rich history in wrestling as a commentator, manager and founding father of ECW. For some reason, the WWE really didn't play to Heyman's strengths and underutilized his skills.

Keep in mind, I don't think Heyman is a wrestling genius—just a talented individual with a great mind for the business. To me, the WWE could have easily moved him to commentary, while he was repping Lesnar.

This move would not have been original, as Bobby "The Brain" Heenan did this towards the end of his WWE career. Not to mention, it would have given the commentary team a solid true heel voice.

In the end, this is pure speculation, as Heyman pointed out on Twitter that no one truly knows his contract terms. I can only assume "no one" means a select few—however, it appears he wants the terms to remain undisclosed.

I guess we will have to wait and see what happens, as Lesnar hasn't really been linked to any future feud except for potentially one with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 29.
