Michael Vick Injury: Eagles Offensive Line Will Ruin Star QB's Season
The Philadelphia Eagles and Michael Vick need each other to succeed. The Eagles have built their offense around all the things that Vick can do well on a football field. Vick, in turn, has been given more toys to play with than ever before, so the burden on his shoulders and legs should be lessened.
However, the foundation of the Eagles offense, the line, is weak, which will lead to a lot of problems for the Eagles and their superstar quarterback.
For the second time in as many preseason games, Vick was injured. To be fair, the first injury was one of those fluke things. He stepped up in the pocket against Pittsburgh and banged his hand on Jason Kelce's helmet.

That injury alone was enough to send a panic through Philadelphia, but Vick was back at it on Monday night against New England. In the first quarter, Vick took the snap and was immediately twisting and turning, trying to make something happened. He took a big hit to the ribs when he threw the ball and was slow to get up.
After the game, Eagles head coach Andy Reid said (via Associated Press) that Vick felt good and "he was trying to talk me into going back in, so how sore is sore?"
While that particular bullet has been dodged, the Eagles offensive line is going to cause a lot of problems for Vick this season. He has never been the most durable player in the league, but when he is forced to move around right after getting the ball from the center, you are asking for trouble.
Vick has to perform for the Eagles to have a chance at winning the division, or at least making the playoffs. The Eagles are paying him to perform like a superstar, but like any quarterback, he needs help to do it.
The offensive line has not been a strength for the Eagles for a long time, which makes LeSean McCoy's performance that much more amazing.
These first two preseason games have shown that the Eagles are going to be in trouble. Unless they can figure it out in a hurry, Vick's hopes for a huge year will be dashed. Given his injury history, it is hard to depend on him doing big things playing behind that line for 16 games.
