This was all the result of the action on Monday night's Raw when an abrupt decision by AJ Lee found Ziggler and Jericho battling for contracts.
If Jericho won, he would get Ziggler's Money in the Bank contract. If Ziggler won, Jericho was done.
In an all-too-predictable outcome, Ziggler prevailed.
It was obvious that the company was not going to have a rising star losing his title shot to a wrestler who is on tour with his band Fozzy.
This is not the greatest sendoff for the longtime wrestler, but he did get the big spotlight win at SummerSlam.
While that win sparked hopes of Jericho fans that he was on his way to once again being a prominent player with the company, it just wasn't in the cards. Jericho's time as a full-time wrestler has passed.
Jericho wasn't forced to leave without getting in one last Codebreaker.
Ziggler was prancing around with the briefcase following the win, but Jericho managed to secure the briefcase while he recovered and promptly whacked Ziggler with the case. He then finished him off with the Codebreaker before leaving the ring without a contract while preparing to rock arenas with his band.
