WWE Monday Night Raw: Triple H's Wrestling Future, Punk and Cena Showdown

Daniel PeragineAug 21, 2012

On Monday, Aug. 20, the WWE presented its live three-hour Monday Night Raw live from Fresno State University in Fresno, California. The show centered around Triple H's future in the WWE, after his loss to Brock Lesnar and a showdown between CM Punk and John Cena

Here are the following match results and thoughts.

R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, and Sin Cara versus Cody Rhodes, Darren Young and Titus O'Neil in a six-man tag team match.

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

Your winners via pin fall: R-Truth, Kingston and Sin Cara. A solid opening match to Monday Night Raw that really picked up towards the final moments.

Match Rating: 3/5

Mike and Andy versus Ryback in a handicap match.

As Ryback was about to win the match, Jinder Mahal interfered. However, Ryback fought back and forced him outside the ring. Another quick squash match showing just how quick Ryback can take on his opponents.

Match Rating: 2/5

Alberto Del Rio versus Randy Orton in a singles match.

Your winner via pin fall: Randy Orton. That was another solid match with good action in the ring. Orton is looking strong so far in his WWE return. It appears we may see more of Del Rio and Sheamus in their everlasting feud.

Match Rating: 3.5/5

Brodus Clay versus Damien Sandow in a singles match.

Your winner via pin fall: Damien Sandow. A decent match that saw Sandow come away with a clean victory. After the match, Clay got the final word by attacking Sandow.

Match Rating: 2.5/5

David Otunga versus the Big Show in a singles match.

Your winner via pin fall: Big Show. A quick match that had the Big Show dominating throughout the whole segment. Otunga was unable to get in a single move, as the Big Show was clearly made to control the whole match because of his SummerSlam frustration.

Kane and Zack Ryder versus Daniel Bryan and The Miz in a tag team match.

No contest match, as Kane grew frustrated when Bryan left through the crowd and took out his anger on Ryder. For the time it lasted, it was a decent tag team match.

The Kane and Bryan feud seems like it will continue.

WWE Divas Battle Royal

Your winner and new number one contender for the Divas title, Kaitlyn. WWE giving more time is important for the Divas division to gain some notice.

This was a good battle royal that was give a decent amount of time.

Match Rating: 2.5/5

Dolph Ziggler versus Chris Jericho in a singles match.

Your winner via pin fall: Dolph Ziggler. With the loss, Jericho is written of television for now. This was a solid singles match with plenty on the line. After Ziggler celebrates in the ring, Jericho attacks him with his Money in the Bank briefcase.

Hopefully, Jericho will be back on WWE television in the future.

Match Rating: 3.5/5

Monday Night Raw Thoughts:

I felt this week of WWE Monday Night Raw was a pretty solid episode. There was plenty of good wrestling action throughout most of the show.

The show put its attention on what will happen with Triple H's career as an active wrestler in the WWE. Lesnar's manager, Paul Heyman, did a good job to really state to the live audience and viewers at home that his client Brock is the king of professional wrestling.

In addition to Triple H's unknown status, John Cena and CM Punk had a solid promo at the end of the show. Cena would not back down to Punk's request. The show ended with Punk attacking Jerry Lawler in the ring.

Overall, this was a better Monday Night Raw than in previous weeks. The three-hour format worked this time around because of SummerSlam.
