WWE Rumors: Brock Lesnar, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels & Tuesday's Top WWE Buzz

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

While it is not exactly the direction that I think they should have gone with it, WWE did what it felt was necessary with Brock Lesnar to get him off television for a few months until Triple H decides he wants to return.

That wasn't the only noteworthy thing to happen on Raw, as Chris Jericho's latest WWE run came to an end. In a SummerSlam rematch against Dolph Ziggler, Jericho was pinned clean in a really good farewell match.

We will have all the latest news and notes on everything to come out of Raw last night, as well as some other tidbits you need to know.

BROCK LESNAR TOUTS THE END

After defeating Triple H at SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar decided that he has had enough of WWE. The man known for bringing the pain touted that we was "leaving WWE and never coming back." At least not until Survivor Series, when WWE can use him again.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Is this how WWE should play it with Lesnar?

Our Take: You can sort of justify it since there are only so many dates he has to show up, but no one in their right mind is going to believe Lesnar's Tout. Just watching it, you can clearly hear the script oozing out of his mouth.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Tout Videos

This is the kind of angle that kills stipulations for WWE. Lesnar does have a history of being a flake, but just having him quit, and doing it via Tout, makes the whole angle come off so phony. If he was going to quit, why not just have him tell the world when he was, you know, on television?

CHRIS JERICHO ALREADY TEASING THE RETURN

Never one to keep the fans in suspense for very long, Jericho has taken to Twitter to tell the world that we haven't seen the last of Y2J in a WWE ring. Perhaps WWE will let Fozzy be the latest to try a concert at a wrestling event.

"

Thanks to all of my Jerichoholics for an amazing 9 months! I have the BEST fans and I promise u haven’t seen the last of Y2J! See u on tour😘

— Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho) August 21, 2012"

Question on Everybody's Mind: What is Jericho's timetable to return?

Our Take: That's hard to say, as Fozzy could always add dates to the tour. Jericho is diving headfirst into this, so it's all up to him. I would say the first Raw of next year, but that is strictly a guess on my part.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Fond Farewells

Though this wasn't Jericho's most memorable run in WWE, it will be sad to see him go. That being said, it was nice to see Ziggler actually get a win. Sure, it came one day after he lost clean on pay-per-view, so it's not like it was a huge step, but beggars needn't be choosers.

TRIPLE H TRIED A SHAWN MICHAELS SENDOFF

Apparently WWE was really hoping for some magic moment after Triple H lost last night. Reportedly, the shot of him after the match was designed to be exactly like what Shawn Michaels had after his match with Undertaker at WrestleMania 26. In my opinion, it missed the mark.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Doesn't Triple H want a big emotional impact?

Our Take: Of course, but the crowd didn't really take to him the way that he would have liked. I do like the idea of having Lesnar "break" Triple H's spirit, which is no easy feat. If he wants emotion, fans have to believe it's his last match, which no one was going to.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Fond Farewells

At least there is a logical setup for the rematch, which is rarely the case when WWE throws two stars back in the ring together. I am just curious as to whether the second time will have the fans more or less interested, as sequels rarely do the same kind of business as the original.

RANDY ORTON'S FILM CAREER CLASHING WITH WWE

One of the most peculiar absences from SummerSlam was Randy Orton, who would have seemed a natural fit as the third wheel in the Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio match. It turns out WWE is making a sequel to 12 Rounds with Orton in the lead role, so he wasn't booked because the company didn't want to have to pull him out of a feud when he goes to film.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will Orton be able to handle John Cena's role?

Our Take: I doubt it. When you watch John Cena go 12 rounds with an evil villain, you know that is just like watching Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2. You are seeing something special. Call me crazy, but I don't think Orton has that kind of charisma.

Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Long-Delayed Sequels

Give WWE credit for not just rushing Orton into something just to get his name on the card. If there isn't time to properly promote a match, especially with someone like Orton, it shouldn't be on pay-per-view.

EVAN BOURNE TEASES RETURN FOR U.S. TITLE

In case you forgot Evan Bourne was still in WWE, and don't act like you didn't, he is reminding you of his existence via Twitter. Specifically, Bourne claims to be coming after the new United States champion, Antonio Cesaro.

"

Congrats to the new United States Champion @antoniocesaro!I can't wait to heal up and challenge you.USA! Chants? Very likely!

— airbourne(@findevan) August 20, 2012"

Question on Everybody's Mind: Is there any timetable for Bourne's return?

Our Take: Your guess is as good as mine. He is obviously getting close, though that seems to be a very vague, generic term that no one can figure out. Hopefully Bourne stays clean, because he was really showcasing his unique talent before it all fell apart.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Underrated Returns

Getting Bourne back gives WWE another mid-card body to use, which doesn't sound like much but is a big deal. Fans like him because he can do cool spots, and WWE likes him because he can work well.
