Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H: Even Non-Wrestling Fans Could Enjoy Clash of Titans
You didn't have to be a hardcore wrestling fan to enjoy or appreciate SummerSlam's battle between Brock Lesnar and Triple H. On sheer nostalgia and star power alone, this was a match to be embraced by old fans and those who have strayed from the WWE in recent years.
There is Lesnar, one of the definitive heels in the history of WWE, a hulking, ferocious mass of muscle that could intimidate a lion just by sneezing. Like him or hate him, people love tuning in to see what will happen when he steps into the ring.
And then there is Triple H, one of the most decorated wrestlers in WWE history, finally getting his showdown with the consummate bad dude, Lesnar. The hype alone was worth the price of the pay-per-view, which obviously the WWE is fully aware of.

Did the match live up to the hype? Could it have? It was a solid match ending in a "broken arm" for Triple H, meaning he can be shelved for a while and a rematch between he and Lesnar can be drawn up. That gives part-time performer Lesnar a useful purpose in the future.
But where to go with Lesnar after that? We've seen him take on John Cena and Triple H, so it will be hard to up the ante. The Undertaker? Perhaps a mercenary battle between him and The Rock? A more surprising but less exciting storyline?
Triple H can simply go back to playing the executive role, but one would think there would be some sort of peak for Lesnar in his return, a match to end all matches.
We shall see. But on Sunday, hardcore fans, those more casual and even those people who never watch WWE were treated to a dream matchup. That's great for WWE and it was great all of us, too.
