The 2012 ATP Winston-Salem Open will be the last chance for some US Open hopefuls to tune up their game before the year's Grand Slam.

Although top-ranked men's tennis stars Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray will all be missing at Wake Forest University this week, fans can still tune in to see world-class players like Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Tomas Berdych battle for points and supremacy.

Here is everything you need to know for this summer's Winston-Salem Open.

Contenders to Watch For

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

The French tennis star is the top-seeded player in this week's singles draw and will be the favorite to bring home the tournament crown with the "Big Four" not participating.

As the world No. 6, the time is now for Tsonga to up step his game. He has just one singles title all year long, and that came in early January in Qatar.

Tsonga has beaten the best on the biggest stage and should be the favorite to outlast the field in this week's Open. He has the powerful serve necessary to get ahead of his opponents early in matches and the strength and stamina to put them away in tournaments such as this week's.

John Isner

American John Isner ranks inside the World Top 10 and is coming off a singles title at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships last month in Newport, R.I.

Isner's unique 6'9" frame makes him a threat to win each and every tournament he enters, and that's why he is a contender to watch for this week in North Carolina.

The 27-year-old will be the United States' best shot to bring home the US Open title this summer, so it's safe to say he will be feeling the pressure to perform and gain momentum heading into the season's final Grand Slam.

With a relatively weak field present this week, though, Isner is a lock to make a deep run.
