WWE SummerSlam 2012 Highlights: Jericho and Dolph Ziggler Put on Elite Show

Tim KeeneyJun 7, 2018

After Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler's thriller at SummerSlam on Sunday night, it became clear how perfect of a feud this duo truly makes.

The potential was clear from the start.

Despite Jericho being a 41-year-old wily veteran and Ziggler being a relative newbie to the WWE at 32, these two are generally the same in one important facet:

Their personalities.

The ego of both men is about as large as the Big Show, making them both intriguing and marketable, especially on the microphone. It's like Ziggler is the next Jericho in the sense, so with Y2J's wrestling career likely coming to close fairly soon, it only makes sense to have him pass on the torch with a feud.

It's not just their voices, either. Each wrestler, despite being at different stages in their careers, is incredibly talented inside the ring.

All of this was clear, and with the last month being spent building up the feud, the only thing left was to test their chemistry in the ring, one-on-one. No tag-team matches, no interference, nothing.

At SummerSlam, we finally got that opportunity, and it lived up to the hype 100 percent.

Jericho and Ziggler absolutely went after each other with everything they had. There was high-flying action, there were power moves, and the fight was taken outside the ropes on several occasions.

There was never a dull moment, and that was all the proof we needed to know that this was a feud made in wrestling heaven. The duo just worked so well together, which makes sense considering they're basically same person.

OK, not really, but it has worked better than anyone could have hoped.

The match finished with an absolutely stunning Hurricanrana from Jericho off the top ropes before he delivered the Walls of Jericho to force Ziggler into a tap out.

It was a match that had everything and I wouldn't be opposed to seeing more one-on-one action between these two before Ziggler finally takes the next step towards stardom.
