WWE SummerSlam 2012: Miz Deserves More Airtime After Thrilling IC Title Bout

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

The Miz's win to retain the Intercontinental Championship over Rey Mysterio at Sunday's SummerSlam was one of the highlights of the night. It sets The Miz up to have an ever-expanding role in the WWE.

This was a fast-moving bout with the aerial assaults of Mysterio and the furious attack of The Miz, and The Miz came out looking like a force.

WWE Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross was a fan of the match.

"

Nice win by Miz/IC title. Hope its built upon. Crowd for it was so-so. Sheamus-ADR, impress me!

— Jim Ross (@JRsBBQ) August 20, 2012"

While Ross' review of the fan reaction was tepid, the crowd's intensity grew as this played out, which is only going to reinforce the company's desire to pump The Miz up.

After all, he is starring in the soon-to-be released WWE Studios movie The Marine: Homefront. The more draw the stars have means more money rolling in from the movie.

While he has been slipping through the cracks a bit this year, the WWE set up The Miz with a thrilling and clean win over Rey Mysterio to help build up his credibility and get a little buzz going.

While Mysterio has been away with injury, he still brings star power, and the company had The Miz notch a clean win over him in pay-per-view. This is obviously part of a bigger plan.

They are building up not only The Miz's credibility, but also for the title he holds. The hype and airtime devoted to The Miz and his championship is going to get cranked up.

So the opinion of WrestleZone.com's Josh Isenberg is a good thing for him.

"

I like miz and his maturity since his return, he no longer looks like a reality star with 15 minutes of fame

— Josh Isenberg (@JoshIsenberg4) August 20, 2012"

It is best to enjoy The Miz because we will be seeing a lot more of him.
