WWE News: Major Meeting Backstage Addressing Mid-Carder Unhappiness, JTG Remarks

Sharon GlencrossJun 3, 2018

The last week in WWE has been tumultuous for quite a few reasons.

First came mid-carder JTG's sensational rant against the company on his official Twitter account. The NXT star blasted the company for their shoddy treatment of him, and others, before noting that most of his co-workers were too afraid of losing their jobs to speak up.

Shortly after, reports emerged that there was indeed widespread unhappiness among the company's lower mid-card regarding pay issues. (Per these claims, these wrestlers found their pay-offs for WrestleMania 28 and WWE's recent tour of South America to be deeply disappointing.)

Then came manager AW's firing over his controversial Kobe Bryant joke two weeks ago on Raw and the released star's shocking Twitter tirade against the company in the hours and days following.

As Mike Johnson notes over at PWInsider.com, WWE management held a meeting backstage with the roster to address the recent concerns brought to light by JTG's explosive remarks.

Johnson writes:

"In what I was told was a direct response to JTG ranting on Twitter about how he and other WWE talents are disrespected, WWE had a talent meeting last night offering the chance for anyone who was unhappy and had an issue to speak up and air their grievances.

I was told that no one spoke up, although as one wrestler joked today, "They just fired Abraham Washington and then ask us to speak up in front of the locker room. We may as well ask to be released!"

"

Johnson reports that company also warned talent against the dangers of airing their grievances on Twitter:

"

During the meeting, WWE officials reminded talents that they needed to handle themselves professionally via social media and to remember that what they say will be monitored by the media as well as the public.

"

Per PWI, the matter of the small pay-offs for the South America tour was also attended to, with management attributing it to a "clerical error" and promising that new checks would be sent.
